Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 04, 2015 12:02 am Hi All,
We are in the process of building our new home and started getting quotes for landscaping. We have pretty much asked the landscaper to quote on everything that needs to be done for our dream outdoor. Just to provide context we have about 560sqm of land that requires landscaping. Our site has a slight slope left to right and front to back and requires some retaining walls. We also have a pool and the quote includes work that needs to be done around the pool as well. Our property has 23m frontage and is about 40m deep. The quote we have received is about $120k! I want to check if this is reasonable given the scope of work below : 1) Fix gutter and kerb damage from the build (About 15 meters of gutter/kerb needs to be repaired) 3) 60sqm of form/steel work required for concrete for driveway/ crossover and side footpath and around cloth line 4) 40 meters of rendered/painted brick wall for the front and sides of the property with aluminium slat infills (see below pic) + motorised automatic gate for the driveway, two side gates next to the house (1.8m and 1.5m) and pedestrian gate. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 5) 16sqm of mod wood timber decking. 6) 32 linear meters of rendered retaining walls painted to match the house. 7) 50sqm pour concrete and lay pavers for pool surround (supplied by owners). 20m of frameless pool fence with two gates. 9) Plant allowance for all areas ($7.5k) 10) Irrigation and lighting for all areas 11) 300sqm of ground prep and Sir Walter turf with appropriate top soil etc, 11) site set up and clean. Item 4) is the most expensive item in the quote ($40k). We are getting a few more quotes to see if this is reasonable. What do you guys think? I would be keen to hear from other Sydney builds that are doing landscaping. Thanks in advance viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Sanity check landscape quote Sydney 2Oct 04, 2015 7:21 pm Wow you must be getting a bargain as our quote is around the same price but less sophisicated and less materials for sure! You have a long retaining wall (similar to ours but ours is masonary and not rendered brick retaining walls like yrs which is more expensive). And you have a large timber decking which we don't have. I think I should use your landscape construction company!!!!! Some pics to give an idea on what we want Front fence wall Vertical garden behind kitchen splash back window Terrace with a seating area and decking. We will be using mod wood decking due to less maintenance Any suggestions or ideas are very welcome viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Landscape plan and quote feedback 6Oct 08, 2015 11:11 pm I have been told numerous times 100k is the minimum you want to allow for landscaping if you want to have a decent job done for a brand new house on a large block, so without having much clue about the technical aspect of the scope, the quote sounds about right. Thanks Jsmi - I don't think it is unreasonable, nevertheless it is expensive especially when you've already spent $$$s building the house. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Landscape plan and quote feedback 8Oct 16, 2015 12:26 pm Hi Guys!
