Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Mar 21, 2024 4:51 pm We had our pool installed about 8 months ago and first time walking along the bottom noticed a bulge 40mm higher than the sides and covering half the pool length so we contacted the pool builder and they sent out someone to look at it he got in the pool with a spirit level and got out and said it was our problem there must be a Brocken water pipe or an overflowing soak well and we would have to get someone to look at it as there are no broken water pipes or soak wells in the area we don’t know what to do the pool company don’t want anything to do with us. Can anyone give some advise on how to fix this problem and what mite have caused it and can it get any worse Thanks Ardy . Re: Bulge in my fibroglass pool 2Mar 22, 2024 6:24 am Hi Ardy, that's a concern It can be one of many things, unfortunately.. First off, was the shell of the pool ok when it originally arrived? i.e. No structural problem with the pool itself? Other than the obvious, has there been any ground movement? I'm assuming it's in ground, so in that case, was the pool backfilled correctly? If not, this can lead to uneven pressure. Is there any high pressure from the surrounding soil or groundwater? Finally, what about temperature, e.g was the pool left in direct sunlight with no water for an extended period of time? Long shot I know, but it has happened with a fibreglass spa pool I owned /size] Good luck! -= Are you still using a notebook or spreadsheet to keep track of your customers and appointments? Long shot I know, but it has happened with a fibreglass spa pool I owned /size] Good luck! Hi Markus, We could only see the underside of the shell when it arrived, it seemed to be quite scuffed up. We showed pictures to pool company and they said it was soft tyre markings from the truck during delivery. As for the inside it was never checked. There hasn’t been any ground movement, it is sandy free draining soil with no drainage problems. We were not here when back filling was done but they claim to have done it properly. Pool was installed in mid winter so temperature was not high and it was filled with water on day of installation. Pool size is 5.5 length, 2.5 wide and 1.73 depth flat bottom, with full length seating on both sides. We have some photos of shell before installation but not sure if we can load them on here for you to see.
