Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 321Nov 13, 2015 8:41 pm The pics look fab, when I was driving to Jervis Bay last week, my GPS detoured me through Shell harbour's residential area by accident, and all the houses was like yours on the side of the hills, looks fantastic, great way to share the views building on a slope. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 322Nov 15, 2015 9:52 am Thanks guys. It felt amazing walking through the house with the roof on. You are right B4m3t. The Shellharbour area is predominantly that style of house due to the hills. It's definitely a great way to take advantage of the slope and the views. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 323Nov 15, 2015 9:53 am Fingers crossed for bricks and Windows next week. Also the sparky is apparently starting his rough in next week too Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 324Nov 15, 2015 2:23 pm I like the skillion roof. It leaves all the hip roofs in the background looking kind of dull in comparison. Yours is reminding me a bit of a skillion roofed house I owner-built on a slope some years ago, though mine was comparitively small and simple. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 325Nov 15, 2015 8:05 pm Thanks onejohn! Do you have any pictures of the house you owner built? Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 326Nov 16, 2015 8:41 pm This is the place I owner-built: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The skillion was partly about getting same nothern sunlight in, but still keeping the roof low to avoid blocking the ocean views. I kept things simple to keep the costs down: It's about 260m2 and managed to build it for under $200k. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 327Nov 16, 2015 9:13 pm Oh wow that looks really good oneJohn. At a really good price too. The joys of owner building. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 328Nov 17, 2015 7:11 am Yeah, that looks fantastic OJ! Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 329Nov 18, 2015 10:04 am House is in the process of getting wrapped and ready for bricks. And some bricks have been stacked up on the scaffolding. Also purchased about 1.5k worth of tapware at highgrove bathrooms. It hurt parting with our hard earned dough. I hope the taps look good! Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 331Nov 18, 2015 10:34 am All up, 8 taps or mixers and a bath spout. Plus 2 shower heads I'll upload some crummy pics that I took of the brochure so you can all see what it looks like Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 332Nov 18, 2015 10:41 am Bath spout Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Shower and bath mixer Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Basin mixer Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen and laundry taps Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I promise they all look better in person haha. We've done a lot of recon over the past few weeks looking at taps, sinks and whatnot. Seriously, they all start to look the same after 3 showrooms Love that waterfall tap! Going to look a bit nice. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 334Nov 18, 2015 11:32 am Haha we are the same with the display homes. We ended up going to highgrove because they had the nicest stuff for the most reasonable prices. Plus they were close by. Just hoping it all comes together well and doesn't look too weird Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 335Nov 18, 2015 12:07 pm They look really nice, I should check them out too, did you get your toilets from them too? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 336Nov 18, 2015 4:22 pm Yup got toilets and vanities and a bath from them too. All up I think we are spending about 4.5k on our bathroom products and accessories. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 337Nov 18, 2015 5:09 pm Nice taps! You did well with the price. We dont have any internal plumbing yet and have only just ordered ours last week. All up mine were just under $19K RRp and we got them for $12K so a great saving but still costing big $$$. There is alot of taps and basins though! Need to wait till garage doors on and we are alarmed till them babies will go in! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=75302 Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 338Nov 18, 2015 5:54 pm Holy moly. How are you spending that much? Good to hear you are saving money though In saying that I haven't added the exhaust fans and the mirrors and shower screens and all that. That's provided by our builder. Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 339Nov 18, 2015 7:43 pm All wrapped up with windows installed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The builder was also kind enough to mow our jungle of a yard. I was expecting him to ask us to do it Re: Custom Bearers and Joists Build on Sloping Block - Frame 340Nov 18, 2015 7:50 pm Good of him. When I first looked at your block it reminded me of Woolongong-shell Harbour-Port Kembla. Beautiful spot Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me. He is in my opinion the best surveyor I have ever worked with. His number is 0425 285 622 All the best Simeon 3 12423 i did click it, still couldnt make it out rofl. in any case, doesnt look like too extreme a slope, you may be in luck. Just shoot out some emails to volume builders in… 3 18573 |
