We are in the same boat. The south side (left) of our house collects water which ended up in our garage during the last downpour.
Luckily the FIL is/was a drainage engineer so he will be helping us dig up the place and do the drainage properly. It's guna be a lot of work which is probably why It's so expensive paying someone to do it.
That's lucky, yes we have a drain going crossways too but that's where all of our pylons etc are ao with a drain it will direct away from the house. They are charging a premium definitely but what can we do, it needs to be done.. I think it's better to do it right the first time. The drawings indicate to direct water away by creating fall but doesn't appear that is going to be enough. We don't have room on the southern boundary so I think it would be very hard to landscape the fall away.
