A single income family with 5 kiddies 10,8,4,2 and 1. We did earn big bickies but mr t just resigned he has taken a roll with council and a pay cut to match, he did get a car which helped sweeten the blow. But Stability is what is important to us now, he used to work in csg but redundancy are rife. Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 635Jul 30, 2016 12:22 am shellby $480K - ouch, I just don't think I could do it - but then I'm a bit of a cheapskate as well. At the moment with 2 loans we are paying for a $400k loan and I find it a stretch - but we also have 2 private high school fees to pay for as well and I only work part time. Ours comes to about $320k with everything which still scares us after having a $195k mortgage for so long. I know its private so don't answer if you don't want to - but how much household income do you guys have? We are about $105,000 - which is considered top tier here as its a low social eco town with a high welfare population - but does mean housing is much cheaper which is a plus. Its just interesting seeing how different areas in Australia are. We both work full time and both in sales. Last year it was around $105k, but the year before was more than that and my wife was on maternity leave for 3 months of it (because I had a great year). Warrnambool is great from a living cost (transportation) perspective though and we're happy enough driving older cars, so we don't spend huge chunks of our income on vehicle loans, I am handy enough to do most of my own maintenance etc. We have about an 8 minute drive each at worst to get to work! Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 636Jul 30, 2016 6:21 am Thanks heaps shell for those, I don't know what I was googling but I couldn't find anything We have decided to go with off white. Hubby also decided that mirror is staying and pretty everything else bar the floor mounted tap and we will source that ourselves We are on 120k combined but we both work full time and stupid hours, we have missed out on a bit of our wee one which I hate as she will be our only child. Now we just need to figure where we want the shed on the property... The logical place blocks out my view and if we look out of our bedroom window all we will see is a shed. I shan't be having that so I will find somewhere else for it to go. Hubby is smitten with his shed, not that he is any sort of handy man I think it's just the thought of a shed he is smitten with 8 mins to get to work silencer? It's currently a 40 min drive and from the new house it will be an hour GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 637Jul 30, 2016 9:02 am Oh I like that brick sample... no idea how anyone decides on the colours with samples, I think Im going to need to pay for a colour consultant to help me... or have my own thread to get votes when its time And fantastic news on the broker and the shed! Thinking happy thoughts that you get a quick answer. Researching split home designs for our KDR downward sloping block Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 639Jul 30, 2016 10:59 am 40 min drive, ouch. It's 5 for me and 8 from the new house. I love that I only visit the service station once a fortnight. Silencer, we do a lot of our own maintenance as well and drive well now older cars - I have had mine for 10 years and dh for 7. We hope to save up this year for a jayco penguin so we can do more weekend getaways as we have so many national parks and camping spots near us. CB - understand the shift work hours. DH is a surgical nurse, so lots of overtime then I do my main job every evening so no daycare costs - however we make the most of when we are together. We are use to it now. I understand missing things while young, kinda my reason for not doing day work for my 3rd unexpected one so I can spend lots of time with him - I can't believe in 4 years my eldest will be gone (plans for the army) and it feels like yesterday we was just starting school - so I'm treasuring the time I have with mr 3 who is 2. Also I'm lucky this time around we are financial stable so I can spend time with him - with the first 2 we were so poor and just did what we had to - guess that also clouds my eyes with debt as I don't ever want to go there or put my boys through it again. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Charlibear's Build with GJ Gardner 640Jul 30, 2016 12:49 pm Such a gorgeous brick.
