Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 30, 2010 11:22 pm Hi We have just had handover of our new house and now we are trying to find the perfect grey colour for our internal walls!! We would like a nice grey shade without being too blue or purpley looking - want more of a true grey but not too dark if that makes sense!! What are some nice grey tones that people can throw at me so I can have a look? Thanks! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 2May 31, 2010 4:28 pm HI Mrs D we used Dulux grey pebble in our home. . .it's a nice grey & goes great with white trims. Check out my blog or thread for pics. We're having Lexicon for our entire house and looking at Temple for the inside of niches. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz256/ecidnac84/Home/dux2162_inventive-exchange_0x0_v2.jpg Regards Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 6Jun 01, 2010 3:06 pm sleven, we have lexicon full in our house and in some lights it does give off quite a blue tinge. maybe go half strength if you dont want it to be too noticeable. I think if I could go back, I would definitely try a sample pot of grey pebble quarter. Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 8Jun 02, 2010 12:36 am JohnnyD - love your house!! It is beautiful!! Also love the grey pebble!! Did you use full strength Grey Pebble or half tint?? I went looking for a sample here today but couldn't find it - might have to try a few more paint stores!! (I'm in WA). Has anybody from WA used this colour?? Also, we are wanting to paint the whole house one colour with just a couple of feature walls here and there so the grey we choose has to go ok over a large area as we have quite a few large walls - JohnnyD do you have any 'large' surface areas you have the Grey Pebble and does it look ok - or make the room feel smaller? I have looked at your great photos but it is a little hard to tell about space from photos!! We also have Charcoal window frames (Dowell) so hope that it might go with the darker frames! I will try and get a sample pot I think!! The other colour we are liking at the moment is Wattyl's Magnesium - alot lighter than the Grey Pebble but it seems to be nice but I am just concerned that it will take on a blueish tinge over the larger area - anybody used this colour?? Thanks so much for all your suggestions!! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 9Jun 02, 2010 11:11 am Hi Mrs D. . .we have used full strength grey pebble & it is used as our flow colour through out the house except for the theatre room. . .went with a darker grey- dulux exposed elements. Our house still looks spacious so the colour has not impacted on that.It is a very nice colour that complements our furnishings & feature walls. . .we have Dulux nick's nook in dining & Purple empire in upper living & main bedroom. We were lucky to see this colour in another house our builder was building at the time & I actually changed the colour we had already chosen. I know it is a big decision when your choosing colours!! Good luck, Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 10Jun 07, 2010 11:46 am Just wanted to let you all know that we ended up going with the Dulux Grey Pebble half strength and it is looking great!! JohnnyD - thank you so much for letting me know about this wonderful colour and showing off your gorgeous house with it in! Me and DH love this colour and it is exactly what we were looking for!! We have used half strength as even though we loved the full strength we thought it might be a little too dark for our house but the 50% is just perfect!! I would have never known about this colour unless you had mentioned it! So thankyou!! We had tested 7 colours and nothing was quite right but Grey Pebble was the final one and it was by far the best!! So thanks guys!! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 11Jun 07, 2010 12:21 pm Oh I wish I did a sample pot of grey pebble half or quarter! Make sure you post photos of the finished product! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 12Jun 07, 2010 12:22 pm Hi Mrs D, I'm happy to hear you have chosen Grey pebble. It should look great in half strength. . .I nearly went with that myself. Isn't H1 great for researching. Glad I could help you & hope to see some pics when it's done Cheers, Loretta Built The Jenmark with Cavalier Homes Macarthur. http://camdenacres.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17870 We are in - front landscaping begins Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 13Jun 07, 2010 3:02 pm JohnnyD you have just saved us hours searching for our perfect shade of grey! Yay another person who loves Grey Pebble - isn't it such a lovely colour!! All the greys we had chosen from colour sample cards looked way too blue when actually put on the wall - but Grey Pebble - what a winner!! Yes I will definitely post some photos when finished - probably next week!! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 16Jun 07, 2010 10:29 pm Mrs D I'd be interested to see the final product. The colour looks great. Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 17Jun 11, 2010 1:18 am Hi, we too have used Grey Pebble. We used Grey Pebble 1/4 tint on the ceilings, doors and door trims, and Grey Pebble 1/2 as the main colour throughout. Our feature wall colour and Theatre room is Taubman's Sheer Hose and we are very happy with the final result I will post photos soon as the painter has only just finished. I am a big fan of the Grey Pebble .. it's such a great, neautral colour .. a very soft, warm grey. Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 18Jun 13, 2010 1:29 am Ok so I will take some photos in the next few days of our finished Dulux Grey Pebble half strength but hubby still has a couple of rooms to do! Now we are thinking about what colour to do a feature wall for one wall in our theatre room and also our family room - both walls will have TV's on them with the family room being a recess wall. Jaelee - would you be able to please post some pics of your Taubman's Sheer Hose? I have done a search and googled this colour but cannot find it anywhere to see what colour it is!! Had a look at your other thread and your house is just stunning and in such a beautiful location too (I'm in WA!). Glad you are another Grey Pebble fan too - it is such a great colour isn't it - DH and I were admiring it earlier today and saying how much we loved it! Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 19Jun 13, 2010 10:31 am Can't wait to see Mrs D. I am very excited to see how it turns out as I am also thinking of a grey too for the "study". Re: Shades of grey - help please!!? 20Jun 13, 2010 10:28 pm Mrs D ... I will try and get some photos up within the next few days. We are about to lose the computer/telstra connection so will be out of action for a little while. Thank you for your kind words too The Sheer Hose colour by Taubmans is like a grey/brown colour. My painter says it has a white base which is fairly unusual for a darker colour, but I think this is what makes it such a great feature colour with Grey Pebble as that has a white base too. If you go to Bunnings, the Taubmans ready matched cards (the cards with about 4 paint colours on it to show you what goes with what) has the sheer hose on one of their cards (I think they have matched it with Portland Stone .. or a colour with a similiar sounding name ... I am going by memory as all my paint charts are packed away and the Portland Stone colour looks very similiar to Grey Pebble). I am really happy with the Sheer Hose as a feature colour, no regrets Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3618 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
