Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 03, 2010 5:40 pm Hi Team, I'm looking for some advice in regards to window furnishings for our future master bedroom. I'll give you as full an overview as possible of what I'm thinking at the moment... The walls throughout our house are in Wattyl Kid Leather and all our trims are in Wattyl Astor White (see below) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are having relatively dark grey/charcoal carpet (called Game Keeper). So the general theme is grey neutral. Our bedroom setting is going to be dark choc and the pieces are likely to be from Freedom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our quilt cover is a Laura Ashley one called Finley (sorry I can't find a better pic) and our bedside lamps will be ones from Freedom with white shades and clear/silver bases... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I guess the 'theme' of the room i'm trying to capture is soft but not to feminine and eggshell blue/silver/white...So with that in mind I've recently seen a feature wall in 'Real Living' magazine which is called Dulux Squirt which we would put on the wall behind the bed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So initially I was thinking white sheer curtains on chrome rods over our 3 tall thin bedroom wondows, with dark wood timber venetians hung in the recess. The main reason I was thinking about dark blinds was so as not to look to strange from the outside of the house. Our exterior colours are as follows: Boral Jarrah Bricks, Monier Mocha Choc Roof Tiles, Gutters and Windows in CB Jasper & Fascia & Downpipes in Evening Haze. Any thoughts? We have a house in Doreen. Built the PD Kensington 24 (with Alfresco & Rumpus option). We are in...Decorating in progress...pics to come soon... Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 2May 03, 2010 6:51 pm That blue colour is beautiful and will look great with your dark wood furniture. I think white sheers or very light sheers like your trims will look lovely. Its going to look fantastic. Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 3May 03, 2010 8:35 pm The darker blinds would be my preference. Just because they'd look nice from the outside, like you said. I like your initial idea of having darker timber venetians or something that matches your bedside furniture+Jasper windows, then a white sheer over the top of that. That way from both sides it would look gorgeous and everything would match... Sounds stunning! Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 4May 03, 2010 8:54 pm I just purchased some pewter rods from C wonderland, for the living room, I have grey/slight green tones in the house and the pewter will be a softer finish than the chrome, or satin chrome. I love your colour selections they a coming together nicely. I'm even more distracted tonight, I have recently discovered etsy.com and have become rather addicted, already ordered 8 pieces of artwork (small) for above our bed. They're prints on antique dictionary pages, which we're going to put in 8x10 black frames one of them looks like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've already had the art work delivered and I'm so impressed. Only problem with getting the stuff now is that it's SOO much harder to wait for the house to be ready to move in Now I've been browsing tonight and ordered these cushions...2 OF EACH PATTERN for our living area Must learn control... I am so impressed with all the stuff I've seen and purchased over there. But need to slow down now as some of the stuff would be better purchased when i'm in the new place.... Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 14May 03, 2010 9:35 pm I love your colours cal, and just had a thought. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but do you know Vincent Van Gogh's 'Almond blossum' painting?? I think that would look fab, maybe even just in the toilet What luxury! A van Gogh in the ensuite I love it. http://www.smartbizconnection.com/artis ... age009.jpg Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 15May 03, 2010 9:37 pm We went to the Impressionists's exhibition in Canberra last January-and I still can't understand why DH wouldn't buy me Van Gogh's Starry Night for our entrance.......the original BTW- it is sooooo much better than a print ! We have a big print, beautifully framed print of Will Longstaff's 'Menin Gate at Midnight' for one of our bedroom walls. It is my most, most favourite painting ever. It's story and sentiment reminds me of what's important. The original is in Canberra. If it ever goes missing, you'll know where to find it Re: Bedroom theme - need help with window furnishings 17May 03, 2010 9:46 pm Not sure about the squillions! All I know is that DH walked away muttering something about a credit card meltdown.......
