Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 21, 2008 10:15 pm So this is our first idea for our facade colour. So far this is pretty rough as MVH doesn't have all the paint companies available to you for colour choices but this is a good indication of where we are thinking of heading.
This is also based on the fact that we are not factoring a colorbond roof as if this was the case we would be going with a light roof...... So with all that in mind we have come up with this......... Our Roof is Charcoal Our window frames and Garage door are Colorbond Surfmist. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/7-1.jpg Anyway It may change along the way....but this is the general idea. I am open to comments good and bad The render colours are Blind Date and Timber both by Dulux. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 2Nov 22, 2008 6:15 am I like it!
The windows will really be a feature. Does your window company have surfmist as a colour? Ours only offered White, Offwhite and Primrose as standard. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 3Nov 22, 2008 7:14 am I like it PK... But I would seriously reconsider a charcoal roof in Perth....
I know the white tiles looked a bit ordinary, but there's heaps of light tiles such as mineral that would look great. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 5Nov 22, 2008 7:16 am gweluphome Hey Stonecutter I don't think its Colorbond Surfmist but I will get as close to it. Hawgyl is using Surfmist fascia and white windows so you'll be able to see what it loooks like soon. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 6Nov 22, 2008 7:19 am Jo, I will have to look at that aswell. The roof tile company the builder uses has a limited range. I am still to enquire about how much it will cost to upgrade to the next range and if its too much we will reconsider colorbond.
I don't think I ever saw Bel's facade choices........thats going to be good to see an example. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 8Nov 22, 2008 8:39 am Rachelle, we are debating right now about the colorbond roof.........If we get that then the lighter colours will be a goer aswell. Everything hinges on the bloody colorbond...... Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 9Nov 22, 2008 11:09 am It looks great in my opinion.
Like Jo said we are using surfmist for the fascia and white for the windows - they are a pretty close match. We were also going to have a charcoal roof tile, but then decided to spend the $4000 to upgrade to colorbond so we could have a lighter roof. We chose Dune for our roof, garage door, front door, downpipes and gutters My karma ran over your dogma Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 10Nov 22, 2008 11:13 am You're in the same dilemma we were in a few weeks ago!
I just couldn't find a tile I was happy with from the options we were given, we could have paid $1k to go to a different tile company, but we chose to pay $4k for the colorbond. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 12Nov 22, 2008 7:56 pm Hey Bel and Rachelle, Bel thanks for posting your facade I can see we will have similar colours. Those colours look really nice together.
Rachelle thanks for doing Bels facade so I can see it. and yeah same predicament....but after much deliberation we decided its colorbond for us. We are just going to have to deal with an extra $5000 on the mortgage. The things you do for your facade colours. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 14Nov 22, 2008 9:16 pm Thanks Donuts, Its really hard when you are faced with so many dollar decisions to decide whats "in" and whats "out". We got our quote back and its about $25000 out so we were trying to find it somewhere but I really don't think I want to comprimise on the facade.
DH wants to drop the pool and that will balance it out for us, I am not sure about that one.....I really think DS will benefit growing up with a pool for the next 5 years at least. When you do the sums on mortgages and work out repayments on something plus $5000 in the scheme of things over 30 years its nothing each week, but still its hard to make the decision. So a new facade with new colours will be drawn and posted in the near future. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 15Nov 22, 2008 9:27 pm Good decision PK - The facade is really something that can't be easily changed, and it is the first impression you get of your home so I think you have done the right thing
The pool can always wait. Your son only looks young from your avatar and I'm sure a swimming lesson once a week at the local pool will have him swimming like a fish in no time. Sometimes it is better to get a pool when they are a little older anyway (safety reasons) What colour colorbond are you going? You should get Rachelle to do a mock up of your colours - she is very good at it My karma ran over your dogma Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 17Nov 22, 2008 9:35 pm Yeah I think your right Haywgl and Donuts, The pool can wait....we do have a couple of tricks up our sleeve though in regards to getting some more dollars back so we will see how that works out for us aswell....but anyway thats for another thread.
I think maybe the Shale Grey roof will be a goer and in saying that I don't mind the look of your Dune roof too. I think Rachelle is very good at the facade stuff but I think DH will get a bit upset if I don't let him have a go at it first. Even though I get a bit impatient waiting for it. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 18Nov 22, 2008 9:47 pm This is my inspiration.
This is the look we are chasing........Not sure of the roof, But a Shale grey garage and Dulux Warm Nuetral render........... This is my fave pic. Re: Very first run of facade colours........... 19Nov 22, 2008 9:51 pm That is a gorgeous home!!
I love Dune - I actually stole alot of my facade colours from Dy. She has a dune roof, dune render, dune garage and also some jasper render. Her facade is amazing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My karma ran over your dogma 7 6422 I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 9325 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 35089 |
