Browse Forums Building A New House Re: WHITE SET & CORNICES! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMO 101Jul 29, 2015 11:18 am I came across your post via another H1 forum thread. Posting to follow. I read through few pages quickly and i gotta love the comment you made about the inspector. Our brickwork was dragging on for 8w (from start to finish) and we had a serious concern. They scheduled us to send the inspector in the day after the brickwork was finished. When we arrived, the roof carpenter were half way finishing the roof frame! Wow, that's fast. No chance for us to knock down any wall if there is a problem anymore, right?! Very nice floorplan! Love your verendah! Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 LOCK UP next week???!! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 102Jul 29, 2015 12:40 pm Thanks Sofia14! Funny you mention that, there was a lag with our bricks also but as soon as we said we were getting an inspector in they suddenly rendered the entire inside of the house :/ So inspector was unable to check the cruddy brickwork... Ha! At least it got them moving again. I don't expect much to happen this week. So far nothing further has happened. Emailed clo on Monday asking what's next and she replied yesterday afternoon saying our SS is visiting today and will advise on what's to follow. So another 3 days gone and i highly doubt we'll have further progress this week. Hopefully i get an update though as i'm not sure what happens next? Only things missing before lockup i think is the front door and garage door? Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Re: WHITE SET & CORNICES! Haha I meant the front door as well as the door into the house from the garage Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: WHITE SET & CORNICES! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMO 105Aug 01, 2015 4:40 pm So we popped in for a looky today. Found they renderred the front and also added some phone point thingys on some of the walls. The render must have been done this morning as it was still very wet. First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 106Aug 06, 2015 6:14 pm LOCK UPPPPP!!! We found out yesterday that we'd reached lock up - although not from our builder.. lol The broker we got our home loan through sent us an email offering a quote for home and contents insurance now that we've reached lock up - naturally i emailed our clo asking questions and got a reply apologising for not getting a chance to advise us. Anywho! Cabinets and tiles are due on site next week and we have our tile meeting on Friday also. Will be going up this weekend as usual and looking forward to seeing locked doors! I really love the front of your house, can't wait to see it with the painted render and the garage down. Have you been given any times yet? We were 6 weeks from lock up to PCI so could be in by October! LOCK UP!!!!!! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 112Aug 09, 2015 10:58 pm I managed to take a pic through the dining window today. You can see the ceilings have been painted. Doors have been fixed, and it feels rather odd to be "locked out"! haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our 'First Home' Build viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: LOCK UP!!!!!! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 114Aug 17, 2015 3:28 pm I thought i'd post a couple of pics of the cabinetry in the kitchen, this was done last week but there's been no further progress since. It's nice to see the selections i made oh-so-long ago, i actually thought it would look more white than grey but i don't mind it. Hubby has a polyurethane spraypainting business so he'll be changing the cabinetry to solid MDF with a colour of my choice. We'll also be getting some overhead stuff added too, eventually, lol. One thing i'm not fond of is, having the gap from top of cabinets to ceiling, we have 31c ceilings in this area so i think i'd like to add a bulkhead later on too. I think it helps frame your kitchen Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: LOCK UP!!!!!! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 116Aug 17, 2015 3:34 pm You took the words out of my mouth Archetto! That was the whole purpose to adding that wall, i'm not a fan of a completely open space being what it is, i wanted something that would frame the kitchen and this was the cheapest option. I would have loved a bulkhead to frame the kitchen area but this was too expensive through the builder. May do that later on though, especially with those ugly gaps between the top of the cabinetry and the ceiling! archetto Do you like the half wall better now the cabinets are in? First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 117Aug 17, 2015 4:54 pm Ohhhhh that pilar makes so much sense now and I actually think it looks really good! Is the builder not putting a bulkhead (filler) just above the cupboards to ceiling? I've not seen it left open above them and thought it was standard to full the gap above so no dust collects etc? That's awesome about your hubby being able to change the colors because then you're not locked in to having the same color forever! It's really looking like a home now, I bet you're hanging to see the rangehood/splashback and kitchen appliances to see how it looks all together. Haha i'm glad people can now have that "ahhh" moment haha I don't believe they add a filler, they're a pretty average builder and everything is pretty "standard" I'm looking on Pintrest for ideas on kitchens with high ceilings as we have a huge gap! We didn't get a splashback through them so i'll be looking into adding that after we're in. Will wait to see how it all looks once completed and decide on what splashback to go for There are so many different styles i like which doesn't make things easy! I'm such a procrastinator lol Our Honeywood Build Ohhhhh that pilar makes so much sense now and I actually think it looks really good! First Home Build in Trinity,ALKIMOS 119Aug 17, 2015 5:03 pm Oh Pinterest! The best site ever! Do you go on houzz too? I'm sure you will be able to get a above cupboard bulkhead put in after pretty cheaply if you wanted the builder always has a huge mark up on stuff and it's probably less than hard the price they charge oh that's good because then you can take home splashback samples and decide which color suits your cupboards - good idea!
