One of my windows isn't getting glazed until it's in because the toughened glass makes it too heavy. Bet you're looking forward to Saturday! I've had this week off travel and next, which has worked out well with the house. It amazes me how they sheet over the electricals and niches and somehow manage to cut them out spot on! A bit has happened since we've been gone. Perhaps not as much as I'd have liked but we have to remember that only three working days passed since the last lot of photos were taken, lol. I'm not sure but I have a feeling these need to be done before the garage stud walls can be plastered in case it shifts at all once they take down the temporary frames. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the back of the garage, the lintels are done here for the door, window and the opening for the 3m wide rear roller door. I'm really happy with how the brick, fascia, gutter and roof colours all work together. In case you haven't followed the whole thread, the window/fascia/gutter is monument, the roof is basalt and the bricks are PGH Boral Horizons Mocha. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Garage door head height lines up with the house windows, this should look on point at the front which I'm stoked about. One thing that's stood out to me since we decided to drop the floor and raise the door heights for clearance are other houses with doors suited to caravans etc that have a big step up in the head height of the garage over the windows of the house, it's a strange look. I'm also going to post some more pictures below this text from a photobucket account, I'm not putting these ones on the blog as my builder reads my blog and I don't want to get in any grief for going through the house without them let me know if they don't show up and I'll work out some alternate hosting location for them: Bricks where the rendered column will be tied in. Ensuite has been sheeted, this looks kinda narrow here but the tall ceilings can give that effect in spaces that aren't super wide, the walk in robe has a bit of the same feeling in photos yet feels cavernous in person. Internal view of the back garage wall. Splashback - this wall wasn't plastered before I went away and it is now. Looking toward the front door - the walls and ceilings done make a big difference, strange that they've plastered over both sides of the hole that will have the slat wall installed; maybe it just makes flattening it all a bit easier to do it this way and they'll cut it out later? You can see where they've screwed off the sheet around it. Re: Custom Build in Warrnambool 292Oct 04, 2016 7:17 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅
The garage lintel is up. It also looks like there are some boards (cement sheet) sitting there probably to do the eaves? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These pegs have popped up on the block on our low side, no idea what they mean or what they're for but possibly they've been put there by the developers since the seem to line up with the stormwater and gas in the footpath and road, and there are some on the other side of the road as well. I guess time will tell. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sparkies have been onsite and cut the holes for the downlights, cleared out some of the wall plate areas. Had a peak inside, looks like some of the cornice has been done; the pantry is done, the kids bedrooms and built in robes, the airlock and the powder-room as well as the ensuite WC are all done. The bigger spaces are all waiting but it looks like they've started cutting up what they need to do the laundry, WIR and Ensuite tomorrow. Now the bricks are going up and the house has been wrapped for a few weeks it's hard to imagine it without them! Re: Custom Build in Warrnambool 296Oct 07, 2016 4:50 am It's all coming together well! Brickwork looks great! How did your builder find out about your blog? I often wonder if coral read my thread... Ha hopefully not! You've made great progress over the last month! I hoped it might encourage them to do the right thing throughout the build (although I suspect they already would have done) since you read so many horror stories on here. I don't think they read this thread though; since they sent me a reminder not to go onsite unsupervised after I posted photos of the frames up (for oh&s/insurance reasons) on the blog but have not mentioned the extra photos here of the plastering progress etc. I guess time will tell! I often wonder if coral read my thread... Ha hopefully not! You've made great progress over the last month! What's on the schedule next? I believe mine is watched by my builder. I find that if I complain about a lack of response they will call or email within an hour lol. And my sales guys thanked me for the compliments paid him, he said he hadn't seen it but that he got praise in the office because of it. I'm hoping it helps keep them in check a bit. It does feel a bit weird though. I'm not hiding my frustrations but I do feel like I have to watch what I say and won't be surprised if I get pulled up for being onsite once we start. The house is looking great Silencer! I love big family bathrooms. Re: Custom Build in Warrnambool 300Oct 07, 2016 2:23 pm It's a tad creepy! I have suspicions that mine reads my thread a few little things got said that made me wonder. If it keeps them on their toes all well and good but you do have to be careful. I can't see your bathrooms bugger! I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34266 6 55311 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27111 |
