I do think ColleyCrew is right - if someone opens the shower door while someone is using the sink it is a potential issue. I think nearer the time it is needed we might go back to a walk in rather than a door. I don't want to raise any variations now which could impact on the start date, and I believe changing where the plumbing is going might! Does anyone know what the minimum 'wall' length should be for it not to be one big splash if you shower - to make it a walk in? The shower is 1720mm long. Back to work for me now - I'm going to try and get all our selections in some posts over the next few evenings - hope you all had a lovely long holiday! Re: Yanchep build 'Welcome to Construction' : Tapped! 815Apr 27, 2015 10:47 pm Mal do you think it will be a big issue . The person who whats to have a shower just needs to push the other person out the way lol .I think its something that can be worked around .just like my fridge door to close to the pantry door . Just my opinion . Re: Yanchep build 'Welcome to Construction' : Tapped! 816Apr 27, 2015 11:14 pm MalSannie we have a walk in in our ensuite, from memory the fixed glass screen is 1100mm and the opening is 700mm. I was worried that the opening would be too narrow but it is fine. The spray from the shower is well contained however we have a rain shower head so the water falls directly down and not outwards on an angle (I hope this makes sense). We also have the towel rail in the open end of the shower which works well - I can get a pic if you'd like Re: Yanchep build 'Welcome to Construction' : Tapped! 817Apr 28, 2015 5:49 am Yay for tap! http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Yanchep build 'Welcome to Construction' : Tapped! 818Apr 28, 2015 6:14 am Melsie I was thinking the same thing - if you had a fight could always pin them to the wall that way hehe! Asha that would be lovely if you could thank you! We'll not have a rain shower though. Do you have hobless showers? OH and I just measured where the water goes in our shower here. We have a rail one like we'll have over there. It is (more typically for England) over the bath and when we measured it went up to 1.5m back. If someone is using it they'll obviously be in front of it so water probably won't be going that far all the time, but it may so I think we should get a different solution. I think what we may do is to not have the towel rings where they currently are on the plan, have a towel rail in the shower itself (like you've suggested Asha) and have the door moved back towards the sliding door. That way someone would potentially use the sink/basin while someone is getting in/out the shower. This is also something that can be done later - we know we'll have to apply for at least one variation anyway, so I'm making a list of things like this to include. Thanks guys - knew I could trust you to help out! housebythewater Yay for tap! Re: Yanchep build 'Welcome to Construction' : Tapped! 819Apr 28, 2015 6:53 am Some selection things... just don't ask me about the render just yet. Will post the sanitary and internal plumbing fixtures soon too. These are the external things - apart from the front render colours. That is a story for another day. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As for floors, benches and cabinets: All cabinets everywhere will be in Formica Snowdrift Velour which is a standard inclusion and seemed to be the most practical to keep looking clean and without finger marks. In the bathroom, ensuite and powder room we'll have essastone sorbet vanity tops, Formica snowdrift verlour and this black lappato tile on the floor in 30x30, and the same tile in 30x60 laid horizontally. Couldn't afford full height tiling unfortunately. The lappato floor tile will also be used in the laundry and a row of matt white tile above the laundry and scullery benches. It is called Altitude, and the colour is 'Great divide' Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the main floor tile - 45x45cm non rectified porcelain. Shown here with the essastone french black (Incidentally - it is now available in 30mm as well) which is what we'll have in the kitchen and scullery, and again Formica Snowdrift velour for cabinets. This pic is from the laminex/formica/essastone website: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've changed our overheads in the kitchen and above the fridge recess to be handle-less, but everywhere else will be these standards Hafele 128mm in stainless steel handles, used horizontally.
