Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 101Feb 25, 2016 10:57 am Exciting, nothing better than seeing your house start to come out of the ground! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 102Feb 25, 2016 9:32 pm Heather your slab looks great! It's looks really big, how many square metres is your place? It's a little premature but have you got an estimated competition date yet? Things will go so fast from here on out! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 103Feb 25, 2016 9:57 pm Lol no news on completion date, 300sq we have there, I really hope you are right that things go quickly, I am looking forward to seeing it take shape, we are about to get our block levelled to match the slab level so that is exciting too! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 104Feb 25, 2016 10:07 pm Wow that's a huge place you got there HK I can't believe that the builder didn't level your entire block for you. That should be (like stormwater) a standard thing a builder should do in my opinion. Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 105Feb 25, 2016 10:50 pm Mm agreed but ofcourse common sense hasnt prevailed in this case, trying to move forward but hopefully no more surprises :/ Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 107Feb 26, 2016 2:43 pm Our builder doesn't level the whole block either, just what they need to build the house. Has resulted in us having to retain half our yard otherwise it'd cost waaaay to much in removal and dumping fees. Same as storm water, that's and 'extra'! ? you're right, it should just be included. Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 108Feb 26, 2016 4:08 pm I hear you Cs we had our landscaping ideas and unless we level our yard with the house all our ideas won't work, so next Monday our yard will be levelled too, we are lucky we know our neighbours and know they are levelling out too so no retaining on that side which saves us both. Atleast something positive came out this site was meeting our neighbours! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 109Feb 26, 2016 4:09 pm Just an update. We received our invoice today and also our anticipated practical completion date of the 16th of august! Sooner than we thought but I'm sure if we go on fairmont time it may be longer! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 110Feb 26, 2016 7:47 pm Awesome! Our prac completion date is around the 8th of July. Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 111Feb 26, 2016 7:57 pm Nice! Do you think if we make it to lock up by winter we will be safe and all the interior stuff shouldn't get delayed right?! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 112Feb 26, 2016 8:01 pm That's what I would assume. Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 113Feb 26, 2016 10:50 pm That's awesome news Heatherkam. To be fair to Fairmont I have seen a few threads on here who's home seem to be finished within a week or two of the completion date so hopefully yours will be the same. August sounds far away but I bet it flys by! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 114Feb 27, 2016 6:42 am I hope so cook we ofcourse are excited it august does happen but I was shocked when it said august I was expecting October! Not Surr how long it takes for frame to start, no timber has been delivered yet! Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 117Mar 01, 2016 12:51 pm Looking good guys, now the fun starts First Home - Fairmont Homes - Vogue - Seaford Heights Vista - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78691 Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 118Mar 01, 2016 1:00 pm Okay, Fairmont really are trying to push my patience!! First of all, yay, slab! BUT, we had our slab laid in early December, and our completion date is less than a month before yours. Grumble, grumble. Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 119Mar 01, 2016 6:34 pm Don't get annoyed yet we have had no action for a week now grumble grumble lol Re: Our first build with Fairmont Homes - Blakes Crossing So 120Mar 04, 2016 7:14 pm So another little update, evidently fairmont ask that you remove soil from your block within 3 days of the footings being complete, little did we know that the drain layer presents himself roughly ten days later who also produces excess soil but in addition kindly uses his bobcat over your nice clean slab and manages to also chip the sides for you. He then puts soil in your supposed driveway for us to then be told we have to move that soil otherwise we hold up production, if only someone "told us" that this would happen we would have waited for this stage to be over before getting all soil removed saving ourselves money! He conveniently placed the soil on the proposed driveway which now needs to be cleared for all bins toilets bricks and framework to be delivered too....if you are reading this about to build, take heed they will tell you what you want when signing but after they will trap you in a contract and threaten delays with your house if you don't PAY to keep it moving. I am disappointed at the utter disrespect they have towards us it's meant to be exciting but it's constant hassles, I am trying to prepare myself for more surprises but the optimist in me tries to take over! I really hope our house is beautiful for all this hassle! for your viewing pleasure our not so pristine block :/ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well these guys are not looking good...
