Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 604Oct 25, 2014 8:48 pm Tiles are in so it looks like we will have to live with it. Its hard to see how unlevel it is at the moment with all those sticker covers on the benchtops. You're not kidding ardie about all the stuff we will probably miss until in. I still can't get my head around the fact that you are paying squillions for a new house and are expected to accept a substandard product everywhere you turn! On a positive note, kitchen tiles are looking good. Sorry guys , no internet AGAIN to upload pics so will have to wait til Monday when I can get to the library!! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 605Oct 25, 2014 9:12 pm Oh Rache thats awful. I would be asking them to sort the counter out. Wonky tiles will stand out like a dogs knob. I will talk to the SS next week triggy. Dogs knob!!! I haven't heard that one before. Will definitely be using it!!! I was just thinking - imagine if we charged a $250 variation fee for everything they get wrong- we'd be getting the house for free!!!! Had a stiff scotch- I would imagine the benchtop would be wonky now!!! Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 608Oct 26, 2014 12:24 am fingers crossed for you and the SS comes up with a solution Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 609Oct 26, 2014 12:24 am Melsie68 Rach stay calm I know it hurts and you feel like how dare they . I have remained calm believe it or not....even while pretending I was Greek with the remaining tiles!! Only joshing!! You are so understanding, and have certainly lived the experience. It's so good to have people like yourself to vent to. It really means a lot. Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 610Oct 26, 2014 12:36 am belzey My god I think builders should send us on a holiday once the house is done as a gift for all the crap they put us through hahaha. Sorry to hear your are having issues rache I feel your frustrations xx That sounds fantastic belzey! Where shall we go? My girlfriend recently went to Lombok(don't know if I spelt it right), and had a full day spa experience, even down to the milk bath, for just$130!! OMG! What I would do for a day like that!!! Thanks belzey - we all seem to be having dramas lately. AKB Rache I would be p!ssed about the benchtop not sitting straight and also the nib wall - thinking of you Yeah I was before my extra strong whiskey AKB! Feeling somewhat blase' about the whole ordeal now!!!!!! But yes, will have to have my serious face on come Monday! Treeseachanger fingers crossed for you and the SS comes up with a solution Thanks Trees! Me too. The guy I have is actually really reasonable, and tends to look at things like 'Would I be happy with that in my house?' I know - unheard of right?!! I hope they'll sort it for you soon and I can't WAIT for the pics Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling! 614Oct 26, 2014 11:23 pm Melsie68 I have had my fair share of tile issues . But trust me once you get glass on top of tgat nib wall and a mirror .you probley wont even look . At the moment you are looking so close at your tiles. I would maybe question your ss about the bench top not being level if it bothers you . Hows the shearing going ? Sorry Melsie! I missed this post - hope you didn't think I was ignoring you! You are probably right about the wall not being an issue once everything is in the bathroom. The tiler said once the grout is done and the screens are up it should be ok. He retiled up to the bench yesterday, and I reckon I will be the only one that will know its not level. My little FreckleFace couldn't see it, even when I pointed it out. I'm going to wait until the covers are taken off and it's all cleaned up before I make a decision...at this stage I think I will just move on.. Shearing is all done and I didn't even have to drag sheep this year! Not sore as a result - just did the rouseabout stuff - and we've bagged all our wool ready to go as well! Very happy with that. My friend moved to beverly and she has all these animals and she lights up talking about it .I think if your not happy they should do something about it .at the moment you are just looking at tiles . Sometimes I wished I had not looked at my house to the very end .then we probley wouldnt of seen things . The finish product its whats important . I have my fingers crossed they'll sort it out for you... looking forward to seeing how it all looks Thanks deluxes. I'm kinda resigned to the fact that there are going to be issues, and am taking it in my stride as much as I can.(in between primal screams!!!) Have had another look at the benchtop and tiles today- he's done a pretty good job of it given what he had to work with, and assures me once its grouted I will barely notice it.Pics are coming! I'm starting to see what I had in my mind now. I've done a closer pic of the nib wall in the main bathroom which juts onto the bench that's not completely level! What do you think? Ensuite feature tile is the same colour but is kinda criss cross textured - sorry I can't capture it. Looks lovely though. Re: Summit build in the South West - Tiling progress pics!! 620Oct 27, 2014 7:09 pm Your bathrooms are huge . I cant really tell above the bench top lol .
