There are so many great ideas for hearths. I'm looking at a 300x600 charcoal textured tile for the hearth ( same level as the floor, not raised)and up the wall behind the fire. That's this week anyway! No matter what you choose its nice to define your fireplace in some way coz its such a lovely feature. Re: Asha's build in Leschenault - HGWA - Fireplace 350Aug 04, 2014 9:36 pm Hi Asha - I've sent you a PM with some questions hope you don't mind! thanks Re: Asha's build in Leschenault - HGWA - Fireplace 351Aug 04, 2014 9:53 pm I don't mind at all MalSannie, have had a quick read but will get to all the nuts and bolts once rugrats go to sleep (my 16month old stayed up until midnight last night - a night owl like me hehe) Re: Asha's build in Leschenault - HGWA - Brick progress 352Aug 06, 2014 12:48 am So close yet so far!! We only have the walk in pantry left to be bricked up internally. They also installed all our lintels today which was very exciting but it also highlighted how much more brick work is left to do above them. So many little bits and pieces here and there all needing to tie into each other - it appears that we have designed a house that is a bugger to build. Alfresco - 6 courses double brick above all this. That alfresco is going to be such an asset. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my DM - I appreciate it very much Re: Asha's build in Leschenault - HGWA - Brick update 358Aug 06, 2014 7:52 am A bigger to build but a delight to see and live in. What height are your ceilings at if you've still got so much brickwork to go above? My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Asha's build in Leschenault - HGWA - Brick update 360Aug 06, 2014 12:25 pm Thank you everyone!! Because there is no roof yet I keep thinking its going to look ridiculous - heres hoping the roof puts it into perspective Burnsfirsttime - the bottom of the lintels are at 25c which means the alfresco ceiling will be 31c. The portico although built up so high is mainly for aesthetics with a ceiling height of 28c. We had to go so high so that the portico roof would sit clear of the garage roof (I hope this makes sense) The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
