Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement Re: Reconfigure floor plan 10Mar 27, 2022 6:40 pm oklouise Newbeithian oklouise i'm sorry that you had to wait so long for my suggestions...i had a rough plan worked out that might be worth considering but was interrupted by other requests and failed to finish your plans and i've attached the rough draft (half finished two weeks ago!) to see what you think before making you wait any longer...imo the biggest issue when extending is to avoid spoiling the style of the original house by altering the roof too much so my suggestion is to reconfigure existing rooms, use the existing alfresco fro dining and pantry, add a verandah across the back of the house to include extra master bedroom space and enclose the existing alfresco ..the advantage of these ideas is that it can be done in separate stages according to need/wants and budget but should be more cost effective than major changes to existing building Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ adding furniture, fixtures and fixtures would make the plans easier to understand so please let me know what you think and i can add all the extra details or add other ideas to try.. and don't hesitate to message directly if i don't respond immediately!! Wow, thank you oklouise. I'm starting to visualise things I just couldn't before. I like the idea of things that can be done in stages, how you've added the WIP, the main bedroom sitting area and the enclosing of existing alfresco and then adding a new one. Genius ideas. I'm happy to wait for the completed idea(s). Thanks you so much for taking your time to do this, you're simply amazing!! always depends on your personal family needs (eg this variation sacrifices an inside kitchen island for more open space and closer connection to the new alfresco (with western sun screens) but initial suggestions include converting the existing kitchen to a pantry with a skylight and using the original alfresco for a new kitchen and dining room ... all the other details are straightforward and optional but you originally asked for more bedrooms and another option could be to add another wing on the north west side but be specific about what you like and don't like and i can attempt adjustments Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is great. Thanks again oklouise I do prefer this kitchen as I can see outside when standing at the sink & Butlers kitchen. Changes would be - Swapping bed 5 and study - No need for bath on the North West as there's a bath on South east and ensuite. - I am keen to see options to add another wing on either north west or south east, and per original query having 1 or two more of the bedrooms to not be at the front of the house, too much morning sun. There's defo room to extend on any side of the house. Thank you, I'm humbled by your help.
