Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Oct 07, 2016 2:58 pm Garage door motor has finally died and given its age, parts cant be obtained to fix it. We have decided to replace the existing tilt door with a sectional door and are trying to decide on a few things so would be interested in peoples input. - Insulated versus normal: garage door faces west so garage heats up significantly. Only concern on insulated is that they are painted rather than colorbond steel - is that something to be worried about - We have had quotes from Garage Door Industries and Insulated Garage Doors in Perth - anyone had experiences with either? - Door colour - we have red brick with a basalt roof and gutters so were thinking going Basalt door as well (will post a picture when I get home). Thoughts Cheers John Re: Garage Door Replacement 2Oct 08, 2016 5:19 pm Wasn't aware that they had to be painted. Probably a bit of a maintenance issue but if done probably no worse than having painted gutters/fascias. Could also contact your local B&D rep, they do one they call Enviropanel. Would be interested in hearing approx. cost. I've lined the inside of our standard door with foil insulation and it's better but I'd like to see if I can reduce summer garage temp further Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7448 Can anyone recommend a good/affordable retaining wall and fence builder that I can get a quote from located in Sydney? 8 47428 Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10733 |
