He didn't even bother to come to site. So we spent a good few hours with the inspector. He was very meticulous. Our issue now is that PCI will need to be equally detailed as the place was a pig sty and needs a clean and there's so much to do still. Our CC and SS wouldnt let our inspector come on PCI day! Is that normal? Anyway PCI will happen next week apparently...I'm not agreeing to it until the issues are fixed...they are knocking out our bath tub surround and fixing it, electrician still needs to fix the wiring and they have to custom make our garage door to fit the opening and there's the kitchen splashback and my whole other list...I call bs that it will actually happen https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11268Jun 03, 2016 10:13 am MGardz if I were you I wouldn't agree to a PCI inspection until you know all the major things have been fixed. At PCI you will be asked to sign a form and that is the end of your 200 day (or whatever your contract is) build time. They can then take as long as they want. We were in a similar position to you this time last year. We had PCI on 30th June and the place was nowhere near finished. In hindsight I think they did it as its the end of the financial year and they get another invoice out. Anyway as I said before our contract had now ended, M had their money and it was September when we got our keys!! Stand your ground now and insist all major work is finished before PCI this way you still have some power over them. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11269Jun 03, 2016 10:17 am Can't believe it was a year ago!! Oh and no they didn't want our inspector with us at PCI either. We went around and it all seemed a bit rushed and the SS was just going through the motions. A few days later another M inspector went in and picked up heaps of things we had missed. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11270Jun 03, 2016 10:30 am Thanks BB. I can't believe it's a year either. That was so quick. They want to do it next Friday but will take your advice, I won't agree to attend until I know the big things have been done. I'm happy if it's just things like paint but when it's my kitchen, bathrooms, garage, roof and I don't even have door handles, how is that even PCI. The house isn't even habitable... What are the things you think would be minor other than paint? I also want them to fix my bricks and mortar first https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11271Jun 03, 2016 10:52 am I guess it really depends on you and how desperate you are to get in as to what you consider as minor. Some things can be easily fixed and done after hand over and even in your 90 day period which don't effect you moving in and living there. We had a lot of paintwork that needed doing. We had no toilets and shower screens which were essential. We also had 17 windows that were damaged and M were very reluctant to replace them so we had to fight them. We had to get someone from Viridian who make the glass to tell them it needed changing. Also what happens if you sign off and then something gets damaged while they are ripping out your bath, where do you stand then? Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11272Jun 03, 2016 1:05 pm Exactly - I'm not agreeing to it until those big things are done. I think I'd be ok if it's just Paint and maybe glass. But my stacker door is warped or something... The insurance question again is the issue as I'm also not wanting to pay for insurance when that sort of major work still happens... https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11273Jun 03, 2016 4:28 pm Hi everyone, we have had four white pegs appear on our block today but I'm not sure if this is all they do for a peg out survey and what it actually means - is it where the fence goes or is it supposed to be the house? I hope it's not the house because two of the pegs are up against the neighbors fence! ? Finally signed off on colours and have received electrical plans this afternoon though! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11274Jun 03, 2016 5:50 pm Ejmack - Good luck with colour choices. We chose to tile to ceiling with M. It looks great. Can't recall on costs. We must've spent at least $60k on upgrading our house with M (electrical, kitchen, tiles, stairs, air con). Congrats Sandra2016!! And pick number one, the inspector who will p!ss off M and don't forget to tell us how it goes!! We used Ryan. Have mentioned our dealings with him recently on the forum. I'm on the fence with him. Mgardz - Sounds like your SS may have conveniently forgotten about his onsite meeting with your inspector. And your house... it will get done... eventually and hopefully will few issues. As Buildersbob said, don't do pci until you're really happy with most ofthe house. We had pci early December and got keys mid February. We missed out on weeks of compensation which I might add hasn't changed in 30 years. We know people who built in 1985 with M and said it was $50 back then. They seem happy with house. Jol0 - like us you may not move into your new house straight away so you could do tiling after handover. We moved in about 5 weeks after getting keys due to timber flooring upstairs, driveway, kids exams etc etc. We got our certificate 3 months after we got our keys. Our laundry flows from kitchen via split steps but it seems to connect well even though we have different tiles. S-VE - hmmm your facade issue sounds annoying to say the least. Good luck Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11276Jun 03, 2016 5:58 pm We pushed for PCI and keys to get in before school started. Four months later we are still waiting for things to be resolved and we never had the M quality guy through. If I did it over, I would hold off PCI until things are complete. For some reason in drafting they've made the top part or the parapet half the size. We didn't notice on the plans. Here I was thinking we hadn't gotten the brick invoice from M cos the front parapet wasn't finished. Now I'm undecided if I'll leave it or ring our CC saying I paid $12,000 for a facade and ask where the other half of the parapet is!!! -slaps head- We also changed to the contemporary facade and changed the windows to the Jazz style.
