Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 25, 2015 10:46 am Good morning, We are in the process of finalising our windows and doors for a new build in the character area of inner city Brisbane on a 405m2 block. The site is got a slope of right to left and front to back and to make things a little more challenging there is a 100 year old house on the high side that has been build on the boundary that we have taken into account in the design. Therefore, we have had to build the entry/garage/laundry/powder at 2440 height ceilings and then the house steps down and the ceilings at the back of the ground floor are about 3300 in height. We will be going with 2400 high joinery throughout including the front entry door, my question is should we use 2400 joinery in the areas where the ceiling is only 2440 high or will this look funny?? Also we are going with square set cornices. Thanks!! We have high doors everywhere including upstairs that has lower ceilings and the design look continous and people don't notice the lower ceilings at all.
