Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Mar 24, 2017 9:21 am Hi all, seeing as we are due to take possession of our home next week I'm after some recommendations of home security systems. I am quite clueless in this area and don't have a huge amount of time to research so hoping there's some recommendations on H1! Currently we won't have nbn until ?? late this year in our estate. There's mixed reports of us even having copper phone lines so back to base may not be available as yet. Things that are preferable is that it connect with our roller door remote so I don't have to key in PIN numbers. Need to be able to have windows open slightly of a night to let air through without setting it off and we have indoor animals so they can't be setting it off. Too much to ask perhaps?? - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Home security system recommendations 2Mar 24, 2017 4:03 pm A Hills system will meet your needs. You can have break glass and/or proximity sensors on your windows so they can be locked slightly open. They have PIR's suitable for animals being kept inside and they also have a remote module you can include which will result in only one remote fob for both alarm and garage door. Re: Home security system recommendations 3Mar 24, 2017 7:25 pm Awesome!! Thanks Althom! That gives me a place to start. I've not heard of them before. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Home security system recommendations 4Mar 24, 2017 7:33 pm Very well known manufacturer - same mob that made the Hills Hoist. Most security companies will use them or similar products https://www.hills.com.au/security There's nothing unusual in what you're asking for so shouldn't be a problem getting it Re: Home security system recommendations 5Aug 13, 2017 11:37 pm How much do these systems usually cost? Re: Home security system recommendations 6Aug 25, 2017 8:51 am BTW - Hills is not the manufacturer, the Hills alarms are rebranded products originally made overseas. Ness Alarms are one of the last Australian Manufacturers of alarms with Bosch, however Bosch alarms are not made by Bosch but a third party. Re: Home security system recommendations 7Sep 26, 2017 10:24 am It is always good to ask questions and have a clear picture of what we are looking for. I would suggest you to go for an Australian Brand Security system. There are so many options out there. You have window/door sensors and if you do not want back to base then self-monitoring is also one option which companies offers where you can monitor your home through your mobile. Re: Home security system recommendations 9Sep 27, 2017 12:54 pm alivesey Really stuck with either Bosch or Ness BTW Bosch do not make the alarms it is contracted to a third party. And Hills do not make alarm systems, these are imported. Ness Wireless Alarms are really good. The batteries are claimed to last for 7-8 years. I bought Ness Alarms through Harvey Norman Security and i am not having any issues with it Re: Home security system recommendations 10Oct 31, 2017 11:45 am If you can afford to have a perimeter system, that would be the best bet for someone with pets and also wanting to leave windows open, the pet sensors are ok but a decent crook can get around them, as far as systems are concerned, I have found the best and most user friendly system is the Hills Alliance system, there are many systems on the market and each installer has their own preference, I have found that the Alliance is reliable, easy to use and flexible, all the best Peter Telecommunications systems, computer Networks and Security systems. It's all about wireless, self install now. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
