Hi All,

Got a huge house being built looking at security system, getting below

• 1 x Bosch 16+ alarm panel with keypad and battery back up
• 9 x Bosch PIR Sensors inside house as per plan
• 1 x Bosch Quad PIR Sensors inside garage
• 1 x External Siren & 1 Internal Screamer
• 1 x Mode 3 Connection ( Program alarm to dial mobile phone)
• 2 x Remote fobs
• Labor
• Test and commission
• Include installation, stickers

For $1815

I think why get reed sensors as they will just smash the glass, so might as well get PIR installed?

PIR's by it self good enough?

Should one get glass breaker detector?
Concept of nightlight too fancy?

Your thoughts please.

Hi

You can add reed switches to the doors for extra protection. If you always use the keyfobs then it doesn't matter much, but if you want to disarm with the keypad then you need an entry delay. Without reed switches the movement sensors near the door then you need this delay. If you have a reed then some systems allow you to configure so that the movement sensor is instant unless the door is opened first. I am not sure if the Bosch system does this.

I would add a reed switch to the garage door so that the alarm will sound if someone tries to force the door.

Also get the system set up so that you can partially arm it at night to protect the garage.

I wouldn't worry about the glass break sensor.

Before make the decision to purchase the alarm kit, you may analysis your house design carefully. Compared to PIR sensor, reed sensors are reliable and low false alarm rate, as well as cheap. PIR sensor mainly used for the interior movement detection, be aware of the pet, some of PIR may sensitive to pets. If you have pets running in house, you'd better to choose the Pet-immune motion detectors. There are many kinds of motion sensor: PIR, Dual-tech, Tri-tech. Dual-tech motion sensor is low false rate and reliable than PIR. By the way, you can consider using the active infra-red beam sensor to protect your house boundaries for perimeter protection. The benefits of perimeter protection is the alarm will be triggered, before the intruder enter into your house.

If your house is already build, then you can choose the wireless kit. When take the wireless kit, then installation will be simple, you can DIY (but don't suggest to do that).

At last, please check with your dealer about the monitoring. Mostly the dealer will request you to sign the monthly monitoring contract and pay the monitoring fee monthly.

Heres what i got:

Everything you have listed (solution 16+ System), but i got 5 Quads and a door reed switch.

All up $1200.

Hunt around, get multiple quotes, play them against each other.

For the exact same system i got quotes of $1950 to $1200.

Hi wrexter, may I ask who you went through?
Going to be very particular about security but need it to work with our house and comings/goings. To be honest know absolutely zilch on the topic, just allowed around $1600 for a decent system :)
Many thanks!!
