Hi I was planning to rent my holiday home as short term rental. The difficulty is how to best manage keys in a secure manner to tenants. The property is rural so I can't be present to exchange keys. Just wondering what peoples thoughts as to how they have gone about doing this?

I have seen the master lock keysafes with combination pins. But having seen the youtube videos of one broken into with three light hammer blows I'm not so sure about them.

one of the girls I work with has a key safe thingy at her short term rental. BUT it is in the city( suburban area) she seems to think it works pretty well. I don't understand how they work I just remember her mentioning it. If the place is pretty rural if someone wanted to break in why would they bother with the key. They'd just break a window and let themselves in anyway.

We went to a holiday home where we have to pick keys from a pub. Perhaps you can arrange that with a local business..?

Just a suggestion.

I will be staying at the above mentioned rental on saturday night. I'll try and get some details. My work friends is also staying there so it's not a let. But I can get some info for you.

read some of the comments below the Youtube video.

There are ones that are tougher supposedly. Plus it would be a bit obvious if someone was doing this. and as I already posted. If someone wants to break in I'm sure there are simpler ways like breaking a window that would make less noise still.

We have a key safe at our back door so its not too obvious. If someone went to our back door intending to break in they would probably break a window before they would go to the trouble of smashing the key safe.
