Hi all,
After a bit of dilemma whether to go for wireless or wired security system, I finally decided to go for the WIRED one. I managed to get a Double Power Point and a Telephone point in my WIR for the same. However, a bit confused about the keypad. I am planning to have the keypad near my kitchen which is obviously away from the WIR. Would I need another telephone point near the kitchen to connect the Alarm System attached in the WIR?? How does the setup work ??

Alarm panel would be installed in WIR and plugged into your powerpoint you have there. Then all keypads, etc are wired back to the box in the WIR, so you need wiring from whereever the keypads will be back to the WIR. Typically telephone cable is not used for this, and wether you need 4, 6, or 8 wires depends on the alarm system.

most keypads use three wires these days, the keypad should be mounted near the point of entry, this minimises the need to isolate certain areas when leaving (unless force arm is used)
