Nice gardens to take the focus off the house. I'd keep any additions modern (square, shape, plain) so it doesn't jarr with the house. Nothing worse than a modern home tissied up with a bit an inappropriate fretwork, iron lace and cutesey victorian gardens. I'd go for slat hardwood shades across the front windows and some nice shrubbery, complimented by a rectangular arbour out the front with hardwood slats and some attractive vine.
