Fast forwarded + photo heavy 221Apr 10, 2016 11:01 pm Completed the dining wall timber cladding out of recycled blackbutt in a rough sawn finish, which is what the front pivot door is made out of. Really pleased with the way it turned out and tied in together the timber posts in the corners. Will be doing the same with the wall in our master. We have black zens on timber cladded walls which is dining and our bed head wall + another wall. We have white versions in the main hallway and for the rest we have the Clipsal Impress range in white, as the zens are way too expensive. The one on the timber post with an intermediate switch (as it it's a 3 way switch) + the dimmer control + the rest was something like $150! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Love that timber post and looking forward to seeing how the floor turns out when polished. Thanks Kemdie. Floor polishing is almost complete. Will upload photos once it has dried. From now on I think all tradies will have to work either by wearing socks or I am going to have to provide slippers as otherwise the dust from outside can stick to the concrete as it will need 3-4 days to fully dry. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. How did the floor turn out? What did you decide on doing about the trades and their feet? 😁 Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 235Apr 15, 2016 11:27 pm Kemdie22 How did the floor turn out? What did you decide on doing about the trades and their feet? 😁 Floor polishing all complete but no photos as yet. Looks great in majority of the areas but since we only did a light sand to have a burnished finished, some of the imperfections of the slab is visible which we will live with. Perhaps a few years down the track we will grind it back to have a different look. The tradies are working with socks, no boots allowed inside = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 236Apr 15, 2016 11:35 pm We moved on to the cladding on the front part of the house. Painted the cement sheet and horizontal battens in monument colour to create a shadow and left 15mm between each timber batten and also left 15mm from the top of the timber and the alucobond. It is taking much longer than expected as the timber is hard wood and 30mm thick so the nail gun is jamming every second or third hit, which is also slightly damaging the timber but not a major worry. We have only nailed them from the bottom and top for now and will align the middle parts later as some timber is quite curved. Overall, ecstatic with the look and how the alucobond tops off the timber like a boxed hat. The colour co-ordination worked out well and with the different shades of the alucobond depending on the sunlight, the contrast looks terrific at different times of the day. Will be placing 2 up/down lights on the larger section to highlight both the timber and alucobond.
