I had this old dough mixing bowl sitting behind the shed, full of junk and water. After 20 years the rust had taken hold. We already had a 10a approval but then we started running art classes and the authorities deemed we now had to reclassify the building as a public building and we had to go through the process of re-applying for a 9b building. So.....pay lots of fees, employ building inspectors and engineers, fill out lots of forms and then pay some more. Now we have our occupancy certificate for a 9b "public building". The only actual change we made was to install an emergency EXIT sign. Anyway, we can now get back on track......legally. Really enjoying the building and the incredible satisfaction of having built it ourselves. I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings. There is no benefit in keeping it… 1 4284 Thanks.
