Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Nov 15, 2021 7:39 pm Hi all am sure this topic has been covered before but really need advice how to rectify this problem. I have built my pavement to close to weep holes in some places as low as 10mm yes silly me I should have known better. Upon reading the Ncc regulation minimum 150mm to ground level and by the width of the vertical mortar joint 10mm I decided to achieve a clearance around the weep holes as per my understanding of the regulation 10mm to adjacent pavement and minimum 150mm in depth. My building surveyor has informed me that I am non complaint and has taken the pavement as the height not the clearance I have created and how I rectify the non compliance is up to me any advice appreciated. The solution is to say that the construction intent is sufficient to address the performance of the codes but is not to codes. Similar to an alternate solution but the correct name eludes me. Maybe design solution. Speak to an engineer. Aside from removing the paving or removing a portion of it that is your only chance. Re: weep holes 5Nov 19, 2021 4:06 pm As far as I can see your concrete paving is roughy finished and probably not worth keeping. Weep holes being too low to the paving is just one issue, the other is that brick sells cannot be drained as they are too low too. It is unlikely anyone will sign off on alternative solution and even if anyone did, make sure you are sitting down when you hear the fees. It seems you need to demolish the paving, excavate ground so your new paving will comply and rebuild to correct levels and grades. Re: weep holes 9Jan 20, 2022 11:21 pm If the weep holes are and concrete gaps are so closed then where is your termite protection that they put before they start layering the brick? The termite can directly go in through weep holes? Re: weep holes 10Jan 20, 2022 11:25 pm rits64 Thanks so much for all your replies, given that concrete is roughly finished I will be hiring a demo saw and jack hammer from Kennards this weekend which is my cheapest option thanks for all your replies, whoever put the concrete for you should have known that. They did not excavate for you. Thus, when you are Owner Builder, just don't look for cheaper tradies. It is very sad to see no control on tradies. They are the king of their own. it depends on the natural ground level, if they excavated their boundary wall needed to be built as a retaining wall. If you filled, which sounds like the case then you… 1 7578 I know foam has been around since the 90's and CSR started manufacturing Hebel in 1989, so it's definitely possible 5 6158 You are correct. Just read through all the ncc rules and 75mm is the minimum requirement for me. 4 11948 |
