Owner Builders in boot-shaped Yorke Peninsula : viewtopic.php?f=38&t=80264& OB in SA 382Nov 29, 2016 8:31 pm Dunno what I was thinking when I said earlier that I am looking forward to do more wall insulation. Probably because I posted the photo the day after I did the wall and I was so happy with what I have done and also I was showered and not itchy. But getting back into it tonight, doing insulation is not a nice job, not at all. The wall insulation is not that bad but still uncomfortable, I can imagine how terrible it is doing the ceiling one, more than twice the size of the wall one. And Hombre did it all singlehandedly. Anyway, we need to work again tomorrow after work to finish it off and have the inspector come out on Thursday. Will post more photos tomorrow. One note to those that plan to do insulation: Clothes that were worn doing insulation including gloves, we put straight into the wash as soon as we are finished for the day/night. Also reduce the 'empty' sound of the usual timber framed house That's what we are hoping for M! Hope you and Mr. are well. Are you still jetsetting for work? Or forget about work. The internal insulation works well stopping that hollow sound. We did it for that reason after living in a double brick house so long. Good job Re: OB in SA 387Dec 02, 2016 11:16 am TomCat I was in Bangkok last week and came home via KL (instead of Sydney) stopping over for the weekend -- not been there before and I loved it! I haven't been to either, ah maybe when our build is finished, we can start doing some more traveling. That makes sense about double brick. It's not echo-ey now and we still have yet to gyprock the other side of the walls. Him and Hombre are working together doing more gyprocking while I have to do weekend work in my temporary office. I have left them a bacon and egg with melted cheese sandwich each though before I took off. Cannot wait to get home tonight and see what they have done. Apparently, our flusher is who everybody wants. He's very flat out especially this time of the year. Sitting at my desk trying to program but can't wait to do some more insulation work later! I did not do any of the ceiling ones but Hombre's saying they're horrible. The wall ones are not too bad as they're denser. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wow great work! How long did it take? Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk OB in SA 396Dec 08, 2016 8:01 pm Thanks BB! That one bedroom wall took me about 3 hours to finish over 2 nights. Was a bit slow! But had to cut around those bobby noggins, good idea for the gyprock to attach to (bottom ones) or as additional support (middle ones) for where the gyprock meets where it missed the original noggin - but a bit of a pain when it comes to doing insulation.
