Well friends - you have a very excited Wonky Walker here... The offer on our block was accepted and we've sold our house so it's full steam ahead on our owner building journey in Parkerville, WA! Settlement should happen between Christmas and New Years because what better way to spend our few days off that moving in 40 degree heat right?
The block already has a big shed (DH is very happy), water tank, leach drains & septics - more than enough for us to live on while we build. This is the block - 5acres (top of the screen is east) - nice slope down to the east with a creek & spring fed dam hidden among the trees at the bottom of the hill.

I know the boys on here will want to see the shed so here's a sneak peak... and I finally have a lemon tree! so excited!

House location will be south of the leach drain - where the green patch of grass is and this will be our view from our future verandah... ahhhh the serenity....
(can't find image)
We're using a Ross Squire Kit with a number of modifications. RSH have been amazingly helpful and they are compiling final pricing now. I'm swapping a few things out (like windows) as I can import them directly to save costs.
House plans? I hear you ask?? Well I aim to please...

Top of the plan is east, facing down the slope to get the most of our view
So this is the Avon Mk 11 http://www.rsh.com.au/index.php/listing ... avon-mk11/ with a number of changes.
Dropped a bedroom and added an activity area for future mini-Wonkies
Added a 'snug' near the meals area - this is a TV-free conversation zone - we entertain a lot and I love the idea of a clear view from the kitchen to our guests
Decided against a UMR alfresco and widened the verandah instead. This came down to cost and we may even extend the verandah all the way down to the carport
Increased my WIR and ensuite space
We're thinking double stacker sliding doors onto the verandah meals area and a servery bi-fold window from the kitchen to open it up completely.
In terms of our plan of attack we're aiming to do the majority ourselves. I work in the mining industry and have access to excavators and sparkies. Will need a plumber and someone to lay the slab as we're doing a cut and fill. Getting the kit to lock up will be all Wonky Walkers' handywork - hopefully less on the Wonky side
We're off to the Owner Builder course at Home Base tomorrow and will aim to have everything ready to submit to council on settlement
Can you tell I'm excited?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Anyone want to talk me out of it?
