We are planning a large new build and I am looking to install a home automation system.
My system of choice is the KNX/EIB system which is commonly used overseas but seems to be rare here in Australia. Has anyone here used it or know of an installer?

Hi
I can't say that I have heard of anyone deploying it in Australia. There is an Australian website for the KNX organisation but none of the members really seem to have any products.
By far the most common and widely available system is C-Bus followed closely by Dynalite (now owned by HPM Legrand). I know HPM have been advertising ZigBee and SCS bus solutions since they were rebranded Legrand. The web site for these products mentions KNX interoperability but doesn't have much detail.
