Where does everybody shop for their HT equip in Vic? Im talking TVs speakers amplifiers blu ray players the works.
Where can you find the best prices? JB Hifi, Good Guys, Havey Normans? Or are there better smaller shops that are worth shopping around in?
We are in the early stages of building, still a few months off moving but I am trying to work out a budget for a couple of big screen TVs (prob LED but I could be talked out of them if they aren't the best option) along with speakers (also have wiring for 6 in ceiling speakers, 2 each in living, HT and alfresco) maybe an amplifier I'm not sure what else. Not looking to spend a fortune maybe just up to 5k at this stage

My projector (panasonic) and bluray player (oppo) are from amazon.com.
Speakers are more challenging because can be bulky and expensive to ship. Depends on the deal you can get and price range you are shopping in.
Isnt the oppo amazing, I bought mine direct from the manufacturer and chipped it myself which wasnt too hard to do. I love it, the build quality is something you just dont see these days.
If you are in melbourne and like marantz, try emailing trevor lees in kew, I got my SR7005 for an incredible price. As for speakers they really are a personal preference and you have to audition them yourself. once you find a brand you like hit the net and look at both the uk and the us. The dollar is so good now even the high cost of freight isnt a barier to getting them much cheaper than locally.
Also for a tvs have a look at grays online, be patient and get a sense of what they are going for over a month or two, I picked up my 54' panasonic for under a grand delivered, and i love it too.
