I seen the BenQ W5000 advertised in the Herald Sun today for $2990 is this good value and a good projector? Has anyone got one of these units or is there something else that can be recommended? I look forward to your replies.

The W5000 is a crap projector (sorry Vanders, only kidding...).

Nah, it's actually a really good projector, especially for what it used to cost, and if it's now less than $3K then that's really good value.

Thanks Rodda. I might head down and have a look at one on Sunday... I may even shout myself one for my birthday.

I went and had a look at these on the weekend and they seem to be a really good system for the price. I didn't buy one as I could spend that sort of money on blinds or driveway at the moment. My question is are there any other projetors that I should be looking at? I am willing to spend up to $5000 grand for a good projector but if this is going to do the job it willl mean I will be able to spend more money on my amp. Our room size is 4550 long x 3520 Wide.

Spend your money on speakers rather than an amplifier or a projector. I'm holding myself until the end of the year to see what manufacturers come up with. They usually release new projector models by the end of the year. The same goes for your amplifiers.

Apparently that the Epson TW3000 is the most popular projector in the world for its price and quality, so you might as well look at this model or its better TW4000 sister.

I also picked up a TW-3000 for $2500 and will pair it up with a Pioneer VSX1018AH.

only 6 - 8 weeks before I can set things up

On the subject of looking at the TW3000 or prefered TW4000. Does anyone know who has either on display so I can see either one working.

Live in Moonee Ponds but work in Upfield so getting there shouldn't be too much of a problem. What are your thoughts on the Mitsubishi 7000 LCD?
