I am hoping some colonial double hung and casement style Windows will help soften the facade. I will look through your thread with great interest for inspiration! Great effort to get them to come to the party with the weatherboard! Yes let me know if there's anything I can help with. We had to externally source stuff as well (eg: the Villeroy & Boch toilets/basins from E&S) but it was well worth it, if the builder is willing to be flexible. From what I have heard, Highview aren't allowing as much customisation with that stuff anymore. Cinder for us poor suburbians that are on the political you're going to get it you're not going to get it merry go round, NBN will be delivered through those OH cables that Foxtel and the like run in. I think you're right there Crazyk - after all what's going to happen with the established houses around us - they're not exactly going to rip people's gardens and driveways up to lay fiber I wouldn't have thought. I'm happy with overhead - it's what we've got now. Doesn't look the greatest but you're always going to have the phone/power pole and wires up anyway. That's pretty poor practice considering not even that soil is compacted. That path will crack 100% Also is that retaining wall founded on a foundation? Hopefully the crushed rock is going in before the concreting goes down. It's been like that for a couple of days. They poured concrete in from a mixer before laying the concrete bricks. Is that what you mean? Yes I was referring to a mass concrete being poured before bricks. I'm sure they will be doing that, but I'll let hubby know. Yes we were just heading out when there was a big truck backed up to where the concrete bricks are, and they were pouring concrete all along there. I bet you can't wait until it's finished. It's not my house and even I can't wait ? Ha! Thanks HA. Nope, I can't. We've hit a bit of a hurdle with our front retaining wall, I'm going to take some photos tomorrow to illustrate the issue. It was meant to be a feature with stone cladding, but I think hubby and I both thought the wall would be higher (or deeper?) and there would be more cladding that there's actually going to be, so we're concerned it's going to look crap. Especially on the curved part where the wall actually meets street level. Had something different in my head. Kind of wish this had been explained to us during the planning stage. Might have to get the designer guy back out here (different guy to the concreters working now, but they work together all the time).
