Can't wait to see photos of your light fittings Never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level & then beat you with experience - Dilbert View Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19733 Contract signed 14Sept Slab 30Sept Bricks laid 1Dec Lock up 26Feb Keys 10Jun Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 702Mar 25, 2010 1:35 pm Light fitting issue - love the look of my kitchen pendants when they're off (they're red shades) - but I don't like the light they give when they're turned on (looks like a red light district!) I'll try and take a pic tomorrow After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 703Mar 25, 2010 1:48 pm stonecutter1309 Southies 8 months in & we still don't have our lights in . Can you tell I'm over it ? do you need a sparky? ours lives in Kingsrove - so not far from you (he's family so that's why he's travelling so far to do our job!) Thanks Amanda but the issue is not finding a sparky but deciding on which lights - DH wants to change the choices we made last year & I can't be motivated to go shoopping again Edit : But thanks anyway Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 704Mar 25, 2010 2:14 pm No probs! I think we're going to be that way with curtains! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 705Mar 25, 2010 7:55 pm Our first attempted break in tonight - our bushfire safety toughened glass probably saved us. Called the cops and apparently the ring leader is known to frequent the estate - we have his details. I thought about going to speak with the parents and apparently they're complete bogans and I shouldn't confront them (according to estate security) Hopefully the cops turn up in the next 5 hours I'll be keeping my digital camera handy from now on. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 706Mar 25, 2010 9:02 pm Are you allright?!!!! That is so freaky that there is a leader and a group in our estate. Hopefully as the numbers increase they will loose interest and move on. Has anyone else had trouble from them there? Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 707Mar 26, 2010 6:37 am Hey Claudia - yeah we're fine - luckily we weren't home - but the onsite security guards saw them. Cops came around and apparently they've spoken with these kids (aged between 12 and 15) numerous times but unless they are caught in the act with photographic or video evidence - they're unlikely to be charged. They have been seen running away from sites where a window has just been broken. I think once we have neighbours - it won't be a problem - Nav's safe coz there are plenty of houses around him but we've got another 6 months (hopefully!) before neighbours move in After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 708Mar 26, 2010 6:39 am What about temporarily installing fake CCTV cameras & putting up a large sign warning of their installation Amanda ? Maybe a deterrent ? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 709Mar 26, 2010 10:22 am I like that idea! Though we're thinking of getting proper cameras - MadCow gave me some recs I'm looking into. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 710Mar 26, 2010 12:55 pm that sux =/ i want cctv cameras too! wonder if Nav'll let us have a setup... hehe i hope you're both ok and that the house is ok! nowhere is ever safe from such people Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 711Mar 26, 2010 1:11 pm Yeah, CCTVs aren't that expensive and relatively easy to install. You may need to drill a few holes, through a few walls and hide the cables, some comes as wireless (but still require power point) SWANN is a better known brand, otherwise you can go for NONAMEs but same function on EBAY under $400. Just search on CCTV or security camera will return heaps of results. I personally would go for a 4CH DVR with WEB/Internet access. Planning to get that done on our house once it is finished. 2 cameras at the back, 2 at the front setup is good. I was sure that when we first looked in Nov 2008 that the pamphlets said it was going to be a gated community? Or maybe that was the plan for the Schofields site (before they went with Colebee) ?? Either way , maybe once there are 800 families there maybe we should all chip in and make it gated , with some security guards?? Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 716Mar 26, 2010 2:18 pm ^ I was actually wondering about that myself this morning, after reading the original post. Stonecutters Ridge Community Website | My photos Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 717Mar 26, 2010 3:06 pm hey sc1119 - not gated any more. however - if you're ever interested in looking how a gated community works - try going down to Macquarie Links. It has a security gate and guard house. I've driven in before in my golf gear and they just waved me through - no checking I had a tee time booking or anything. Another time - we wanted to look at a particular house for sale - I just told them I was going to an open for inspection - let straight through. Another time - I said I'm visiting friends on X street - again - no checking that those people were expecting visitors or that our friends actually lived on that street! So gates and security only work so well - you'd need to give everyone a security pass they can swipe to get in and out, register your visitor car regos with the guard house probably 24 hours in advance. The council officially owns the roads and verge - so I'm not sure how we'd close it off to the public. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 718Mar 27, 2010 11:54 am Hi Amanda, Yep, played there with workmates a couple of months ago. As you said , it wasn't that difficult to get in , we just said we were playing golf. Its not like they are going to open the boot and make sure we don't have a large bomb in there or anything of the like But what I did like about Macquarie links was the way you could walk across the road between some holes - with no gates and it had a real feel of openness. Re: Building an Impression 38 Mk II (43) - we're in! 719Mar 27, 2010 12:21 pm Guards at the gates would deter would be thieves even if they aren't checking people, I never really saw random kids running around the houses being built when the guards were at the front gates, they only started showing up after guards were gone... also never saw kids racing down our roads back then....
