We are building a 2 story custom plan, SOR in an established suburb. We shopped around and ended narrowing it down to 101 and Ben Trager. We went with 101 as they had a better price overall and we found them better to deal with than Ben Trager (not saying Ben Trager was bad, 101 was just better). We have signed our contracts and are now waiting on our building approval from the local council. We are hoping to start by Christmas, but i think we will probably commence building in January. We were advised the build estimate time for our place was 15 months, but would likely be closer to 12 months. That is for double brick and tile construction (upstairs and down) for a 330sqm double story house. Timber framed upstairs is a good deal faster (about a month or so i believe). They have been good to deal with so far, we made a number of variations along the way and whilst there have been a couple of errors (nothing major) they have been very good at sorting them out. Sometimes the error has been theirs and its been corrected quickly and without any complaints or arguments, sometimes the error has been mine which they have also been good about. When we first started talking to them i told them that the most important thing to me was that they kept me informed along the way and they were honest about things. IMO there are always going to minor errors or mistakes that happen (that's life and building plans are complex, particularly once you've changed them a few times) what matters to me is how they deal with problems as they come up. So far everyone at 101 i have dealt with seems knowledgeable and competent. There isn't a sense that they are lost or trying to figure things out as they go, it's all been very professional, and relatively smooth sailing. 1 5116 |
