Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 12, 2016 7:44 pm Hi there. Building a Porter Davis Plaza and wondering if anyone has an indication of cost for the coffered ceiling in the living room on a Plaza or Waldorf?
PD have forgotten to add in bulkheads in the downstairs wall for the master ensuite drains so they want me to accept a exposed bulkhead so looking if there is a way of making it coffered to hide it. They say it's too costly to do but won't tell me a cost. Any ideas from anyone who has done one? Thanks Re: Coffered Ceiling cost Porter Davis 2Sep 13, 2016 7:29 am I asked at sales for a coffered ceiling for the lounge but they said it was to expensive as well. I wonder why they put it in their Waldorf grange display for everyone to ask about, but then try to deter people from selecting it? I pushed for a price anyways and they told me for the lounge room it's about $3000! And that's not even with fancy cornices, just plain coffered square edges. But this wasn't at tender, just at sales- so not an official quote. I left it out in the end. How have they forgotten to add in bulkheads? They should compensate you for cost at the very least. Re: Coffered Ceiling cost Porter Davis 3Sep 13, 2016 7:54 am Thanks for this info. Yeah it's been a pretty disappointing experience so far and then this. I think I'm going to push for the ceiling to cover it. I added in a wall between living and dining and asked for a thicker wall to cover the bulkhead. Engineering then made the wall load bearing and forgot about the bulkhead apparently. Frame is all up and was due to be wrapped and the plumber noticed that there was no provision for the piping for the Master ensuite above to go downstairs. PD could reengineer but it will cause delays and cost them so they want me to accept having a bulkhead on one side of the room but it will throw the look all out. Will see if I can push further for this. Thanks again Re: Coffered Ceiling cost Porter Davis 4Sep 13, 2016 5:01 pm No probs- it doesn't sound like a fun experience. It's clearly their mistake and if you're only at frame stage the delay shouldn't be too extensive. Else, they should offer you coffered ceilings for free! I think they look very stylish but I can't afford them at PD prices. Let us know how you go with it and good luck! Thanks We have it in our quote for $3690 which is for the standard size lounge room in the Waldorf Grange not for the 'Grand Lounge' size which is actually on display at Greenvale.
