Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 21Aug 23, 2016 7:49 pm Those minimum width measurements should be used as a guide. My bordeaux has minimum width of over 16m however my block is only 15.3m. the side setback depends on the height of the home as well as the amount of cut they are doing. The home just fit on my block. Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 22Aug 23, 2016 8:31 pm Hi Vulster, thank you for your blog and all others too. We feel so new to all of this and a bit overwhelmed with all the plans/information. We still have not been able to decide which house and size etc Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 23Aug 23, 2016 11:19 pm vuster aniazur Hi all, Thanks for sharing your journeys, it's very helpful for those of us considering these builds. We are interested in these metricon classical designs. Vuster can you please clarify about your friend building the Bordeaux but with the classical stairs, do you mean she's building the Bordeaux 56 with the stairs on the side and changed that to a winding stairs? Or is she building the Bordeaux 56A which is also available in Melbourne I believe but much more costly than the 56 Hi aniazur, She's actually building the bordeaux 56 however her downstairs has been modified like the somerset 59 design. Her upgraded staircase cost her 41K plus 20K for adjusting the building to suit. Metricon are quite flexible with the home design from my experience. Just let them know what you want and they'll come back with a price. Another friend of mine tried to build the bordeaux on a budget. What she did was chose the Liberty 42 and then made structural adjustments so that the floor plan was similar to the Bordeaux. In the end she got a 50+ square house with similar colour selections as the Bordeaux display. Hope that helps. Thanks for the info vuster. Really enjoying your thread Hal Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 24Aug 24, 2016 8:08 am Hi Vuster, thank you again but can I ask is your block north/south front/back yard facing to fit the Bordeaux 56? I was told by a SC at Metricon to fit that size of a house and not worried too much about about side setbacks you MUST have a block that is north facing backyard that's best? Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 25Aug 24, 2016 10:24 pm aussiemunchkins Hi Vuster, thank you again but can I ask is your block north/south front/back yard facing to fit the Bordeaux 56? I was told by a SC at Metricon to fit that size of a house and not worried too much about about side setbacks you MUST have a block that is north facing backyard that's best? My front is facing the north. Backyard is facing the south. I did not know if I was able to build the 56 at the time I paid the initial deposit. It wasn't until they did the survey that they said the side setbacks were OK for my block. I still had to go through a council dispensation process as the height of my garage exceeded rescode requirements so it was still a couple months of waiting for that to happen. They would of had to adjust the garage height if it was rejected. I think I've hijacked Hal's thread. Best to ask Bordeaux questions in mine. Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 26Aug 27, 2016 4:00 pm Hi Hal, I rang Metricon but they didn't answer, I guess it's Sat afternoon? We love your house plan, can you please let us know the address for the Doulton display in Burwood? or anyone here has a clue where it is? It's not advertised on Metricon website. Many thanks and good luck. Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 27Aug 27, 2016 8:58 pm Hi Hal, what a beautiful home you're building there. I really love the grandeur of the curve staircase too. Looking forward to following your journey! Re: My Doulton 56 Classique - Metricon Melbourne 29Aug 28, 2016 1:40 am Hi beac_faith, thanks but I am getting frustrated with the waiting time.
