Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 441Feb 25, 2017 12:07 am Thanks. Yeah they were expensive tiles but they are the feature of the home. The Doulton display tiles are similar although are more brown. Hebel is standard on the Bordeaux and Somerset homes so no upgrade required.. I thought the tiling selection and pricing is done during the Beaumont appointment? The salesperson just puts a provision for tiling in the contract to help you budget. My provision was way off the final price even though the salesperson knew the exact tile i wanted. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 442Feb 25, 2017 2:35 am vuster Thanks. No you can actually pick your tiles at your colour selection. It's only if you want a wider range you would go to Beaumont. We picked all our colours based on the floor tile. But in the end she totally forget to put it in. I even got proof of her putting all our colours on there to match it. We have had so many problems and muck ups so far. I just hope after this and once it's gets started there will be no more problems. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 443Feb 25, 2017 2:39 am Doulton777 vuster Thanks. We haven't picked the bathroom or anything. We wanted to wait till our Beaumont appointment which is Friday the 3rd. I'm getting that same splashback that's in the doulton for the appliance bench and where the stove is. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 444Feb 25, 2017 10:02 am Have they given you the final price yet? Labour charges for 600mm tiles are absurd. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 445Feb 25, 2017 11:11 am vuster Have they given you the final price yet? Labour charges for 600mm tiles are absurd. Yup I agree! Totally absurd for anything 600x600 and above. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 446Feb 25, 2017 5:54 pm vuster Thanks. Yeah they were expensive tiles but they are the feature of the home. My provision was way off the final price even though the salesperson knew the exact tile i wanted. And I thought the Bordeaux and the Doulton shared the same floor tiles. Anyone know the name of the tile in the Doulton? Had a look at Beaumont's website with no luck. Did find the Bordeaux one- http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Products/Product-Details?pid=167005P&group=1&groupname=Tiles&catid=FLOOR&catname=Floor+Tiles&SortOrder=2&pspid=3 the giveaway were the pics. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 447Feb 25, 2017 10:30 pm Vuster Nope not yet. Still have to go to Beaumont to pick the rest. we upgraded for $11,000 for porcelain tiles which is suppose to cover all the flooring. If we stick to the gold range we should be ok. We also added allowance for all wall tiles. But they said if we want porcelain we would have to pay $1600 for every wall in each bathroom on top of $1600. We have 6 bathrooms in total. Thats including the powder room. But Im sure its going to cost us more. It always does. Then once we do tiles and we will get final price. Then take it too the banks. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 448Feb 25, 2017 11:00 pm Yeah it sounds like that 1600 for full height tiles covers you for cat one ceramic tiles! They'll charge you much more for the porcelain on both material and labour. I was expecting 30k to appear on the Beaumont tiles computer screen but it ended up showing 60k upgrade price! That was on top of the 11k cat one ground floor tiles and all the floor to ceiling pricing that was already in my contract. Didn't find they gave great upgrades. They make a fortune out of everything. And the base cat is not that great. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 450Feb 26, 2017 12:38 am Yup, tiles was also the big time killer of budget in our build. I think the 600x600 porcelain upgrade plus floor to ceiling cost us approximently $4k per bathroom and $3k for powder room. We cheaped out and left the 3 toilets out, kinda regret it now. We had to sign the final contract with M before we could go to Beaumont Tiles. Once we did all of this the total tile cost is than added to my contract as a variation. Why don't you call up Studio M and ask them to email you the Colour Schedule of the display home so you know what the exact tiles are? We did this as when we went to BT they don't have the tiles we wanted in stock, once we had our appointment we found out that these tiles in the Hampshire/Somerset were "Not Display Stock" but had to be a special order. Expect to pay more if you are going to select 600x600mm, as Vuster and Dulie mentioned the labour cost for this is huge. Good luck. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 452Feb 26, 2017 9:01 pm We Wont be getting the same tiles in the Doulton. It would be way to much you can tell they are expensive. Thats what we did. went to contract and tiles will be a variation. But The tiles we picked at studio should have definitely be put in there. Its too late to put it in the contract now. Not happy she didn't put it in. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 453Feb 26, 2017 9:06 pm Anyway I can always get the husband to install up to the wall. As his done heaps of tiling in this existing house. And replaced all the bench tops here with stone and has put all porcelain tiles in all ensuite here. And what info they will give you on whatever. What I usually do. If someone tells me something. Particularly my csc. I get her to give it to me in writing. Or email me. So that way I have proof of what's been said. My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 457Feb 26, 2017 9:39 pm Doulton777 Renman Doulton777 We Wont be getting the same tiles in the Doulton. That's so weird because we weren't even allow to mention tile appointment until the find plan and contract was sign. They said that they can't do the tiles cost estimation until all the structural design was finalized. I thought it was state dependent but it's more Consultant dependent. They even took our allowance out of the contract because we didn't pick tiles from studio. Then they said because we didn't we had too put it as a variations after contract. It doesn't make sense that they told you that. Cos that's the reason why they have the tiles there too. So you can pick them.
