Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 07, 2017 7:44 am Hi, we are constructing a 4bed 1 study and 3 shower house. This is the first time we are building a house and naturally are overwhelmed with the experience. At ghis stage the land is registered and we have visited a few builders such as Allcastle, clarendon and rawson. Our choices are very limited due to the shape of the block. It is a big piece of land narrow from front and wide at the end. We have liked the floor plan of Allcastle grandworth 37, but and their initial pricing is looking ok. However I have been reading nasty feedback about the builder and need some help there. Honestly we are finding Clarendon and rawson a bit expensive. The only way we could consider these other builders is by compromising on a smaller house. Is there anybody who as built grandworth 37 with allcastle? Re: Need help in selecting builder. 2Feb 08, 2017 4:04 pm No feedback specifically on Allcastle but you will find most project home builders costs will come out pretty evenly once you look at all the inclusions in detail. I'd recommend comparing all the standard and promotional inclusions across all 3 designs that you are interested in and making sure you are happy with what comes with the fixed price then get estimates from the sales team on what you would want to upgrade (kitchen/bathroom fittings, flooring if included, aircon, gas package etc) to make sure you're comparing apples with apples. Hope that helps! Re: Need help in selecting builder. 3Feb 08, 2017 4:52 pm Sure Thanks, hope to have some progress on the decisioning process soon. Re: Need help in selecting builder. 4Jun 29, 2017 10:42 pm IN your initial tender, specify all the upgrades, don't assume that the base price is what you see in the display home. Then you'll see what your actual cost is. This is not just Allcastle, This is all builders. I started off with a base price of $350K. Add $20K in site variations and $50K in custom variations! Hi VK, Think it's worth investing time in an Owner Builder course to equip you with basic knowledge on Australian Building Industry and its regulations.
