We have upgraded to off white mortar but it looks beige and nothing like the display or any one else who has off white mortar. I think they have used the wrong g colour sand :/
Re: Building a Noosa 29 in north brisbane 187Jan 30, 2017 8:10 pm Can you check with the SS and get them to change it for the front of the house??? But I am no expert it might dry lighter. It's a brown sand. I am hoping it will lighten too :/ Hi Cait, They use brightonlight cement.. First lot of bricks went down on Monday and we decided we would hold tight and see if they lightened like we thought they would from what everyone else said but we had our concerns. We expected a really nice crisp off white like at the display. After 4 days they were not any lighter at all today. So I started doing some digging... They should have used either a white or a light coloured sand... Ours is very dark --- pics below. I called actually ended up getting an expert in regarding mortars etc who has told me they have used the wrong sand and that it will not get much lighter than it currently is... Maybe a little. Expert said with this particular mortar brand the company don't recommend using any sand that has a clay through it because it turns it turn it kind of yellow. Below is a pic of our dried mortar vs the dried mortar of our neighbour (both meant to be off white) also is a pic of our sand vs same neighbours. I've sent my SS an email this afternoon explaining my concerns.... :/ Maybe we are being too picky but we were told that the mortar would be like the display--- also attached Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building a Noosa 29 in north brisbane 199Feb 02, 2017 10:37 pm Oh this is not good news FOLLOW MY CORAL HOME BUILD NOOSA29 https://tapatalk.com/topic/11116-homeon ... effery-pad Re: Building a Noosa 29 in north brisbane 200Feb 03, 2017 6:42 am Oh my word, how frustrating!! I'm sorry to hear what has happened, getting a credit back for their mistake really isn't good enough as you had an expectation of what your exterior was going to look like and now it's not.
