We have signed with Burbank to build the Spotswood which is similar to the Macleod. I'll be following your build with interest as our land isn't due to title until September. I've lived up this way my whole life, so my dad told me about those rocks... he said he used to dig in our old house and came across many rocks. To put it in perspective, the house is 34sq and site costs are $20k lol crazy high. Re: Waratah Estate (Mickleham). Modified Burbank Macleod 299 69Mar 05, 2017 4:53 pm YeuG Still no updates from the estate I was told we should get one by the end of this week on their facebook site. So when I see it, I'll put it up here When I went for a walk, I saw one lot that had 5 holes in it, which is what I'm ASSUMING to be soil tests done by the builder. That was stage 1, so things are moving! Re: Waratah Estate (Mickleham). Modified Burbank Macleod 299 70Mar 05, 2017 7:54 pm andyboiii cant decide andyboiii Road that joins on to my street beginning. I'm building in Doreen(no rocks just clay) with less the 300mm fall and I got fixed site for $7,000. $20,000 is reasonable for where you are building. My friend built a 33sq single in Mandalay Beveridge and didn't fix, she ended up paying $45,000. Re: Waratah Estate (Mickleham). I've been on it and it's very flat. it's just the rocks I'm worried about. I'm hoping when they say fixed, they mean everything, including relocating the rocks elsewhere. Fixed is fixed (there are some exceptions and it will clearly tell you what these are in your tender) . You definitely did the right thing by fixing. There was about 500mm of fill, H2 soil & lots of rocks. Re: Waratah Estate (Mickleham). I'm on an elevated block and they have been pulling out truckloads of rock. It has been two weeks and the SM says that because of the soil condition over here it may take another three weeks till they finish the slab and they can start of the frame. I am so glad as I fixed my costs as my neighbour being an owner builder had 60k of site costs and my SM has told me that are people who have built in Highlands and Mickleham who have not fixed and have been left a bill worth tens of thousand of dollars. It may cost a lot initially but it's an insurance in the long run. Re: Waratah Estate (Mickleham). The macleod didn't cost me too much, even with high ceilings (2,774), stone bench tops, 2 metre extension to the garage, 2nd ensuite/WIR, site costs of $19k etc... 34sq house and just the construction cost me $280k. I removed a few things like driveway, dishwasher and blinds... all of which I'll get cheaper, except for the dishwasher, i won't use it so i took it out as the house is just for me.
