Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 82Aug 25, 2016 4:56 pm Soil and survey is back and tender is booked for 3 weeks away. Our developer failed their statement of compliance so no titles yet but should work in perfectly with the build now which is actually a better result haha! Looks like we should be building by October Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 83Aug 25, 2016 6:33 pm Were the soil test results OK? Our build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82369&p=1525857&hilit=fairhaven#p1525857 Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 86Sep 09, 2016 7:54 pm Did you find out about your soil report or are they waiting until tender to tell you? I've been told our tender should be 2 weeks away, they haven't made us any appointment yet though. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 87Sep 09, 2016 8:18 pm Nope we've got nothing. Tender is booked for Wednesday and I'm more than a little nervous about where we'll stand. Apparently titles are at the titles office and should be issued next week with us having 2 weeks from then to organise settlement! We're hoping for a start in November as our rental lease is until May! Could be perfect timing haha Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 88Sep 09, 2016 8:26 pm Can't wait to hear how it all goes, make sure you let us know! I'm hoping for the same timing as you, our rental is up at the end of May also.. If it goes over I would just ask for month to month so it shouldn't be any drama I wouldn't think. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 89Sep 09, 2016 8:28 pm That's crazy that we're on the exact same timeline haha. I don't mind going a month over, I just don't want it done too early and have to pay months of rent once our house is finished. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 90Sep 09, 2016 8:41 pm Exactly, that would be so annoying. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 91Sep 14, 2016 12:34 pm So we had our tender appt today and site costs/energy rating etc added 23k to our cost! We needed an upgraded slab at $4600 and $11k worth of screw piles. We were hoping for $15k, had budgeted $20k but the extra 3k isn't too bad! Looks like we'll start in about 7-8 weeks :O Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 92Sep 14, 2016 12:48 pm Combined ours were $60K if it makes you feel any better. I'm glad ours were well under that and that we managed to not have to get retaining walls!! I'm just excited for it all to start Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 94Sep 14, 2016 1:02 pm You should have a slab & possibly a frame before Xmas shutdown. Our build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82369&p=1525857&hilit=fairhaven#p1525857 Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 95Sep 14, 2016 2:38 pm 7-8 weeks.. Not long. How long until final contract? Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 97Sep 14, 2016 5:09 pm Awesome, looking forward to watching it all progress Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 98Sep 15, 2016 5:03 pm We finally had our finance sorted and went in to see our salesperson to sign a few more papers. From what I understand the next step is waiting for a phone call from someone to book a colours appointment. This is all very new to me so unsure what the go is to be honest. I noticed on the fairhaven website it says "Our industry-leading Fairhaven Homes build time guarantee" - any idea what that guarantee is? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else and don't want to seem like a knob asking. Have you noticed the price rise on the Newport 361? Looks like we put our money down at the right time. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 99Sep 15, 2016 6:42 pm Was it the prelim doc that you signed? If so you should be allocated a customer relations officer (CRO) now from head office who should be in contact to arrange colours etc. If you're building the Newport our tender guy yesterday said standard build is around 5-6 months but your contract will probably be longer to cover themselves but pretty sure they say within 7 on the Newport. We signed up at $239k so it's jumped $16k since we paid our deposit in feb :O Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 100Sep 20, 2016 9:48 am Received a phone call yesterday and apparently due to estate guidelines our porch and balcony need to be set back a min of 4 metres so our tiny backyard is going to be even smaller. As it now is closer to the easement we need to pay an additional 2.5k due to structural reasons. I'm guessing they need to reinforce the slab at the rear or something. 239 is a bargain! We signed at 243,500 May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13260 We are looking to do a KDR with fairhaven homes, Have seen plenty of good reviews about them pre construction and plenty of negative reviews about them during contruction… 0 18046 Hi, can anyone recommend a custom home builder who can build in north east area?
