Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 247Sep 23, 2016 7:04 pm Plasterers and brickies have done a bit more. Plasterers have sheeted more walls and quite a few ceilings and brickies are halfway around the front and the courtyard area. I'm having a guess that they might be all finished by the end of next week, or thereabouts. Also gave the approval for our cabinetry - so I guess that will begin construction in the background soon too. 4 weeks, today, since slab got poured - just writing that in to give a bit of a timeline as it goes (try to do it each Friday). Couple of photos. I'm totally thinking you'll be in my Christmas! Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 249Sep 30, 2016 9:32 pm Week 5 (from slab) update. Bricks and inside house plaster are completed. Met with the pool builder on Tuesday - he didn't think that the build was far enough along to start excavating (too busy with other trades, however they've all finished now!) - I knew no better, and SS was on holidays. But I think the SS was wanting to use the excavation dirt from the pool dig to spread and fill in our sloping land for the shed, etc. Could all be a bit of a blessing as I pegged out the pool area as per contract, and it takes up far too much of the alfresco opening, so I've altered the layout and size of the pool half a metre less long but half a metre wider to hopefully keep it at least 6m from the effluent (waste water) system. Waiting to here that the change is all good - shouldn't affect the concreting/tiling as it's the same overall. Hope the pool dig delay doesn't affect the overall progress - it was moving along from one trade to the next like clock-work. Will try and get some photos in next few days Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 253Oct 12, 2016 9:05 pm Still haven't been inside the house since last Thursday. Outside cladding is mostly completed and eaves are underway, as well as framing around windows. Could see some doors inside too. Photos as of last Thursday - it was quite late and the evening sun was beating down - so may have washed some colour out of the photos. We're happy it's at lock-up (stops the neighbourhood from wandering through at their leisure, but also prevents us from going through too!). Noticed through the window yesterday that our pantry sink has been installed above mount but we asked for under mount. Hopefully it gets fixed. Hope you guys are enjoying your new place. Great news that you're loving it. Good to hear the breezes flow through - a big reason for us choosing the design. Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 259Oct 18, 2016 8:38 pm Popped in on the way home and the tiling has started, which allowed me to get a quick photo of the main kitchen with the bench top. The tilers said the slab was a good one, which makes their job a bit easier - which is good, as they're dealing with 600x600 tiles. Pretty excited to see the steel bars being placed in the pool too - aiming for a concrete pour on Thursday - really looking forward to seeing the overall size/shape.
