Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 29, 2016 4:18 pm We're just about to start on our KDR with Rawson in Sydney, demolishing in the next few weeks. There's not much for us to do but twiddle our thumbs so I'm thinking ahead to all of the things we'll need to do post-build and wondering what it will all cost us. Things on the list include: - swimming pool (actual pool cost is about $30k but I know we'll have plenty of other expenses on top) - landscaping (including a retaining wall) - fencing - window coverings - finish electrics (we've provisioned for downlights and fan lights but will buy our own and have an electrician come in after) - cabinetry to walk in wardrobe (we removed the standard shelf/rail from our plans) - various bits of furniture (dining suite, couch, two TVs) - plus things like letterbox, clothesline, TV antenna Just wondering if other people's lists were longer or shorter and also what the ballpark budget might look like. Hard to say, I know, but am I crazy to think we could do all this for $100k-ish? Re: Post-handover costs 2Feb 29, 2016 4:31 pm If you want a swimming pool it might be best to plan that first unless you have a corner block. Re: Post-handover costs 3Feb 29, 2016 6:34 pm Pool is happening post-build. Before would have been better but we didn't decide on it until too late and couldn't get it done before our tender would have expired. But we have easy site access -4.5 metres at he side. Re: Post-handover costs 4Mar 01, 2016 6:39 pm Our list is: Blinds (done) Letterbox (done) Fence (done) Extra concrete (done) TV antenna (done) Security door (done) Landscaping (in progress) Clothesline New kitchen table We had a budget of $10k for all of this but had to buy a new (to us) car before Christmas so that has cut significantly to our funds. It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO.
