True, it's just frustrating seeing it stalled, we are ready to move in haha

Small update with no photos. Someone has been onsite and taken all the stickers off the windows. The oven is partially installed, I didn't actually go and look - Sarah said it looks like the gas is connected but probably not the electricity yet.

There may be other things I've missed as I've been good and resisted going to take a look today haha.

The shed will be next week or the week following, even though they originally told me their subbies weren't taking time off over the break it sounds like they just did anyway. Not to worry, as long as it's done before the bank need to value for the final payment is the main thing! The only other thing this will hold up is the final sign off for the electrical as the electricians need to trench the 3 phase cable and hook up the sub board/1 powerpoint and 1 light prior to finishing the job.

Signed up for our FTTP NBN 100/40mbit plan yesterday. They rang today and advised the NBN system is showing our NTD install on the 27th so they will just have to click go with software and it will be active. They're sending a new router, pre-configured, to our current address now.

Sounds like how ours was installed. As soon as all the hardware was hooked up I was able to call our ISP and get things turned on. It was remarkably quick! (But you're lucky things are ready to go now, we had to wait a month for everything to be ready - the hazards of the house being built fast I guess, no one else in the estate had the same problem )

Well that is the absolute last thing we would need, to try and move into a new house with no grass or fencing with three kids six and under and not even Netflix!

It's either that or tie them up in the shed, the other half might not be keen for that option.

Garage doors! Almost cool that this took so long as it felt like nothing was happened and despite only being two doors, this feels like big progress!

Oven is partially in, looks like it needs the feet at the front adjusted up or something.

Also not sure what the go is with the little rear splash, could we remove it? Could we get one from westinghouse that is enclosed on the rear? Does it even matter?

and inside of the roller door (rear)

They're in the process of paint repairs, they've already patched up where my mate put the plaster saw through the wrong spot looking for our data cables. Sick :)

Looks like the bath has found its home, not sure if it's mounted or not yet.

This is the edging between the carpet and the vinyl plank flooring.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

The timber slats have had a coat of something applied. There is some visible silicone around the edges that's not exactly smooth so hopefully they plan on resolving that before we do our walk through next friday!

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

They're also patching some unecessary holes, here for example is where the data cable behind the fridge was run, the cabinetry obscured it so I will need to connect it later if we decide we need it.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

Similarly the light for outside the kitchen doors couldn't go in the indicated location because of the steelwork behind it and it had to be relocated once the tiles went in, the unecessary hole behind is now covered.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

The roof section of the door frame goes back further than the light fitting, hope this doesn't mean the door will cast shadows when it's opened!

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

Looks like they've overlooked this spot the plasterers made too big when pulling the cables through. Not that it really matters as I'll likely be hanging a rack cabinet over the top.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

Edge detail on the tiles in the bathrooms desperately needs attention. Not sure what they'll do here. Almost looks like the tiles have a finished and an unfinished edge and they didn't realise.

And again, same with the floor skirting tile.

Are you going to raise those things with your supervisor now? I would if I was you. I did the same, albeit my build and handover process wasn't the norm... But if you leave it until PCI you don't want to risk not making handover 3/2

No there are two weeks between our PCI and handover so that's plenty to resolve those items. I'm not supposed to be inside walking around lol. It just helps me have a good proper look for things without them there so I don't miss anything.

MrsJM will be happy to hear that I changed my mind about sending the defects to the builder.

I dropped in on my brother while he was commissioning my Air Conditioner and that's given me the perfect excuse to send an e-mail to the builders saying "hey just a heads up there are a few things I've noticed that you might have overlooked".

A couple of extra things are there are two vinyl floor planks that have popped up:

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅
Some paint runs not marked with tape (there are heaps of spots that are marked so they obviously haven't spotted this one:)

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

They're still in the process of putting clear on the wood slats so I haven't mentioned that, as I'd like to see what they achieve without my intervention.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

There are some runs up the top though

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

And some silicone rough around the bottom.

AC outdoor unit is in. This is the Daikin unit. The slab it's on was designed for the ActronAir one - how much smaller is the Daikin!!

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

My brother noticed when he was installing the AC that the bottom of the meterbox isn't sealed so I added that to my defect heads-up list.

The AC is pretty awesome, there's no audible air noise inside at all. There is a bit of a hum that you can hear at the moment which my brother says isn't normal which he'll look at next week some time (he had other stuff to do today - the main thing is it's working and it seems will probably run fine with both zone controller switched on at once.)

These photos are actually from yesterday as I didn't get in tonight for reasons I'll explain soon.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

The changes yesterday were mostly painting changes - all the tape marks removed and a lot of the paint defects resolved, with some exceptions. Door frame painted.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅
Timber trim covering the brick/frame gap painted.

   ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅

The powder room toilet has been installed for a few days but I'm not sure when it actually happened or when the toilet roll holder went in as I didn't have any photos of it before.

Exiting news! The shed is getting started tomorrow!

We did get a bit of a curveball though. We found out a week or so ago that our site supervisor would be leaving and it turns out he left today. The reason it's a curve ball is the director of the building company (who we dealt with before we signed up to build as he did the drafting and estimating/quoting process etc for our house) is now taking charge of our build.

We had a walkthrough booked for Friday but at this point I'm not entirely sure if that's going ahead. He's asked me to send him through anything I've spotted that I'm not sure of or that needs attention and he's been right through the house today and identified a number of things that need doing even down to some minor scratches on a window winder.

The walkthrough Friday might not happen because he would prefer the house perfect before doing that - it sounds like the outgoing supervisor normally presented houses "almost done" and fixed any issues identified by the owners - I get the feeling the director's approach will result in a higher quality home for us as he's a bit of a perfectionist and takes pride in the houses he builds.

They are still doing their utmost to achieve our previously determined 3rd Feb handover deadline although there may still be some little things after that for them to come back and resolve.

Our conundrum now is that we need at some point to give our 4 weeks notice on the rental. Should we just do it on Friday as originally planned (which gives us a 2 week overlap if we do handover on the 3rd) or should we hold off and monitor progress for another week? It's $330 a week to rent where we are so it's a reasonable chunk of cash...

Progress wise:-

They have confirmed the new doors are due in the next day or two for under the island bench - they're going to be push to open, which is cool - I was just expecting the doors to be replaced with no handles and to have to pull from the bottom edge to open.

The little stainless splash has been removed from the oven as well, our ilume solar spotlight has been fitted in the pantry and the wireless speakers have been fitted to the ceiling in the living room.

I still need to check (somehow) if our draft stoppas have been fitted to our wet room fans, and we don't have a whirly bird on the roof yet - I'd like to know if the rangehood vent has been hooked up too - it's hard to see in the roof space!!

The remote controls for the fans are MIA - hopefully the electricians have those!

The trim pieces over the stacker doors will be going in soon hopefully; they were bent up for the builders from colorbond but the builder did mention he thought they looked like they might have been done wrong so was going to double check in case he needed to resolve.

Looking good! you guys must be so excited!

IMO, I'd give yourselves an extra week of overlap with the rent, just in case of delays. $330 is a lot, but it's cheap insurance against the inconvenience of finding storage etc. If something gets held up. Better off to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

I can't remember exactly, but did you guys get your loan through Sharon at commbank? If so, have they been good to deal with? Any issues to be aware of?

Our colours are: theatre room - Dulux timeless grey, everywhere else - Dulux dieskau, trims are Dulux lexicon.

We are already giving ourselves a 2 week overlap. The shed is definitely starting now as the installer rang me to ask how to get to our block!! We should have access to our own shed at the block for storage if it comes to that.

NBN installer is onsite doing their thing too. It's all happening
