Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 61May 26, 2016 8:45 pm It would be great to get a refund for the fence but they're pretty clever at justifying costs. We had to pay for split deliveries. Thought they'd never need to use split deliveries since our block's pretty big with plenty of room. So...bricks are delivered way too soon when earlier items are taking up all the room. Hence, split delivery needed. Who'd have thought? However, if you don't ever get a fence, you can't be expected to pay for one. Some people have managed a refund. Good Luck! Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 62May 28, 2016 1:58 pm vonsta76 Ive already bought all my electrical and put deposits on my kitchen appliances so i'll see if i have enough left over for bathroom bling. Im counting on a credit for the fence but very pessimistic on this. Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Can't believe how far you guys have left us behind, hopefully we will catch back up to you guys Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 63May 28, 2016 8:43 pm Some pics from this afternoon's visit. Love the front door too. Yes my little boogers keep me stupidly busy but I am trying to get on to keep up. How did the IKEA visit go? You like the pax? Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 65May 28, 2016 9:54 pm You know what tribe? We somehow managed to bypass the first 8 sections when we entered, but we decided to keep going through and then start from the beginning after checking out. By the time we got to the car to unload our purchases my partner decided he'd had enough and wanted to go home( he's never been to ikea before and I think he was overwhelmed). Never mind though plenty of time to visit again before handover. We have picked the same door,( only ours will be the red) and are so pleased now to have seen it in a couple of builds. I hadn't seen it before our selection and thought it was different but not out there.
Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 67May 29, 2016 7:23 am Yeah this was talked about a bit the other night. So far I know that oldies and Mrs JM have the same door too as it looked like most people were going with the common one with the multi vertical glass panels lol. I applaud you for trying something different with your door. Its going to look grand with that entrance! And I love following daydream builds. Cant wait toll yours starts. We have the same door but X 2 double doors and they are red (like holy cow bright red ) I'll have to find your thread Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 72May 29, 2016 12:54 pm Tribe7 vonsta76 You know what tribe? I guess because we're painting not staining ours the green won't matter. Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 75May 30, 2016 8:14 am Oldies Hey Vonsta! WoW!! I did include that in my tender but then i changed my mind and didnt want the fan but asked for the smallest window i could possibly have at the top closest to the ceiling. So when my contract came back they said they acknowledged my request for such and such window size but it couldnt be done and a different one would be put in ( i thought they were referring to model type not size). So anyway now i have a huge *** window! Its a bit of a crush because being a movie buff, i want to try and make it as true a theatre room as I possibly can. I've got 2 x 100" projector screens, so now im going to have a hard time working out how to best drown out the light. It is a beautiful window but the total opposite of what you asked for!!! You cant even put a lounge or anything against that wall _________________________ Building the Noosa 26 with Coral Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80794 Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 77May 30, 2016 8:49 am I know! Theres quite a few things that i (naively) thought i was getting included even though i asked my sc and she said i'd be getting them ( the robe in the master bedroom for one). So now im getting quotes for a custom robe, but have decided to just get a pax wardrobe from ikea. This is meant to be my forever home, but you never know, if i get the chance to build again now i know what to ask and check for at tender stage! Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 78May 30, 2016 8:55 am Oh yeah im hearing you!! I didn't realise you needed to cover every little thing at tender stage and once our contracts come through trying to change things has been a pain!! As much as this is meant to be our forever house.. id love to do it again as i feel like i had to settle for so much this time... oh well! I still love the house we are building but wish i had the option to change a few more things like the cornices etc our colour lady didn't try and up sell anything! ! Which i found disappointing _________________________ Building the Noosa 26 with Coral Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80794 Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 79May 30, 2016 9:09 am Hey Vonsta! We had the same issue!! Hubby has gone and dropped a small fortune on our media room and now we have a large window in it! Our solution was 100% block out roller blinds! They come in a special track to eliminate all light that can come through the gaps! Since we are getting roller blinds it works well for us. We didn't even know they existed but look perfect for what we are after! More expensive but in our opinion it's worth it. And if they aren't successful we are going to pay for an external roller shutter. The reason for our size was apparently due to Basix requirements and the room size. Having said that, I did see on someone's that they named their media room a "store room" and got away with a tiny window! I think it all comes down to getting creative! Don't let the large window dishearten you, we aren't! I'm looking at it for future options should we choose to change it down the track, at least we have a beautiful window in the room! And for now, we will work with what we have Re: Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens 80May 30, 2016 9:29 am Also, for resale value, it's better to provide both options, a big windows if the buyer wants a normal loungeroom and a total blockout curtain for if "media" rooms are still the flavour of the month. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4335 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 |
