Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2016 12:16 pm Just wondering what is this beautiful pipe on my lot? This is at about 1400mm from the edge of my lot and doesn't look like it is going anywhere. The reason I am asking is I might want to have my driveway there and something needs to be done about it. I have not contacted my land developer yet and the land is still being worked on and yet to be registered. Anybody here know what I could do to get rid of it. Thanks. Normally water connection is a single pipe sticking out with water tagged on it. And a meter goes on it just before slab comes on. Our water looks a bit like that so I wasn't sure if it was just a larger version perhaps http://www.redland.qld.gov.au/Environme ... rMeter.jpg Re: What pipe is this? 7May 08, 2016 4:58 pm wilson, yes looks very much like a regular water supply pipe. However this is a bit bigger. Beetaloo, yea most probably a check valve. Is it easy to move it to a more non interfering location ? so that it doesn't come in the way of drive way.. Re: What pipe is this? 9May 09, 2016 8:55 am We had a few - underground tank pipes; sewerage breather pipes; water pipes; not to mention the fibre optic conduits etc. Took a while to work out what the different lids were for. Then a larger one to feed the golf course from our run-off/stormwater. Our sewerage system seems to work on a suction/vacuum system - fully auto but an unusual idea. Re: What pipe is this? 11May 09, 2016 10:55 am pshome Thanks Saint Mike. Did you have to move to fit in your plan? Just wondering how much I should keep aside for this kind of stuff. The damn pipe for the water to golf course ran across the middle of our back area !!! We had to divert it for pool. On the plans it showed it as a sewerage pipe But - we knew it was the excess water pipe. Luckily. The fibre optic conduit was so hard to find - they'd done the "tunnel/hole" - but no pipe to be seen. We had to dig down - to find the "tunnel" - and then run a new pipe across - under the road ! Then re-dig the one to our house. The top of the box where it all meets looks like a normal water metre box. Then, the underground water tank was right in the middle of our driveway. Builder didn't want to do driveway then. We convinced him to, and you barely notice the lid now - and its probably a good spot for it. You see lids in roads all the time - but I guess they need to be careful in a driveway. Best thing about the tank - the pressure is awesome. We have town water of course - but just average pressure. The tank hose fires from one side of the block to the other Its all fun. Re: What pipe is this? 12Jun 19, 2016 10:28 am Looks like a dual check valve and line strainer for mains water. Shouldnt be a problem to move it but I would be a little worried about how much they want to charge you My build with FHBD viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78344 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7354 Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance!
