Another update from the development manager today, he has now spoken with the council guy who refused to process our report and consent first time, and the council's planning department. It sounds like the planning department is on board with the developers interpretation of the MCP. Our council guy is now saying that he can process a report and consent, no guarantees it will get through obviously, but we seem to be back on the right track again. Exactly where we were 2 months ago lol! The developer guy is now chasing up some letters of support from their town planner, lawyers and we think councils planners to go with our report and consent application so we still don't know when it will actually happen. Baby steps but we are moving :-D.

There is lots of action starting at our end of the street this week. Not either side of us, we met both sides at a 'get to know your neighbour' function that our developer put on last week, and it doesn't sound like either of them are particularly close to starting. Over the road was pegged out today, and two blocks south and two blocks along behind us have been cut, so it is all starting to happen!

We received the last of our 3 support letters for our report and consent today. We have one from the solicitors that drafted the MCPs, one from the developer and one from the town planner that was involved in creating the MCPs. It's been 2 months since we first contacted the developer about the issue with the MCPs so we're pretty excited today! Our builder doesn't think we need to submit a new report and consent, just provide the letters in support of the original one that they submitted at the start of October. Fingers crossed council doesn't see it differently and the letters can just be emailed through today and the process can get going again.

We didnt have to go through any of the developers approvals etc so really didnt understand the process you went through. I just felt for you as it felt tedius and i would have strangled someone by now lol
Hopefully this gives you the all clear and you can start building your house. Im dying to watch your house come together xx

Thanks Julia. My patience has only come from being too busy to worry about it. It actually hasn't felt like long at all. Although it is a relief to get it back on track. Even if something goes wrong from here, at least I can die happy knowing we have 3 letters that say that our interpretation of the rules was correct lol!

Thanks guys! I'm not sure what to expect time wise. We're hoping to get the building permit sorted in Jan so we can get started in Feb but who knows?! On Monday our admin said she would like to get the permit before Christmas. Obviously that is impossible since we need the report and consent for the height of these troublesome walls. Council says 3 weeks on the application form, admin said usually a couple of weeks, but with Christmas I'm not expecting anything until at least mid Jan, probably longer.

I'm just stoked with the letters at the moment!

The letters have made it to council today! Sounds like admin have been swamped so despite us leaving voice messages our email didn't get read until hubby finally made contact today. A bit disappointing but not surprising this close to Christmas. Hubby was the one who put most of the effort into making sure we had the letters by the end of last week so you may have seen the steam coming out of his ears if you were anywhere near Geelong today

Had to pick up some rubbish that some knob dumped on our block tonight . Only about a garbage bag full on ours, neighbours weren't so lucky. Not so smart dumping rubbish with your name on it.

Its pretty disgraceful what some people do and think its ok. Dont you wish you could dump it back on there front lawn.

Once our build started there was a skip bin outside the house. We had a whole oven dropped in it one day. Our SS says it's a common problem during summer and there's not much they can do except leave the bins full.

Yes it is pretty crap, what people dump, we've had so much random stuff dumped during our build once we had a full set of sprint car tyres dumped at one point vacuums, a lawn mower so much random stuff. At least it's not your problem once the build starts, it's an unfortunate on cost to the builder. Although I'm sure it gets more than passed on to us.

Yeah I've seen some crazy stuff near us. A lot of it I can't understand why they don't just put it in their green waste (palm tree!) or their normal bin. Other than a couple of bikes the stuff on our lot was all small stuff. This person looks like they've opened their trailer on our driveway, then driven over to the far side of neighbours leaving a trail behind. We've made some really big stuff disappear into our wheelie bin with just a little bit of destructive effort, its not that hard .

A council hard rubbish day once in a while might help.

Post subject:  Re: JG King modified Heywood - Contract signed!

That's the next one down. Neither of our neighbours have started. No news :( . Left a message with admin, never got a reply. We are fast running out of time to draw down on our construction loan before we have to go through all that crap again :-x.

Oh gosh I hope you don't have to go through all that again with the banks. It's so much paperwork.hopefully JG king get there butts into gear and start building your house! I'm dying to see it come to life. Do you know if either of your neighbours are building doubles? That was one thing that worried us but didn't happen luckily.
