Thanks guys! It feels great when things are moving. I think poor hubby is feeling the stress a bit more. He is snowed under at work and seeking a cloning expert . I have to remind him to think of the curtains and make hay!

Our back neighbours have mowed so I can see over the wall for the first time in a long time! There's now 5 houses started in our section. It's a bit frustrating watching others start but we've made peace with our situation

Our contact at the developer asked for the name of the council building surveyor yesterday so things are moving along on that front. Reading between the lines a bit it sounds like their town planner and legal team still don't think the MCP is wrong and they're going to try to convince the council of that. I'm not sure that is the right approach. From what we understand from the building surveyor, someone has made a mistake in the wording of the MCP and it needs to be fixed. Fingers crossed they sort it out. We have zero hope of starting this year now but it would be nice if we could get the building permit sorted before Christmas, I'm not sure how realistic that is

Glad you can see over your wall. I know another guy that likes walls....

Hopefully they stsrt the convo with the surveyor and get ome movement so you can have contract pre-christmas.

So frustrating that this is taking so long, hope between them they can figure out what the hell they are doing and you can finally move forward! Haha to seeing over the wall!

Any small change is exciting at this point, even someone else mowing their grass

Haha your so right I love how exciting we get over things like grass being mowed or someone else having the site test holes done! We must live in crazy building house bubbles like weirdos
I'm glad your getting somewhere with your approvals but I hope it happens faster for you. You've waited so patiently for your build.
Your poor husband will be rocking in the corner by the time the builds actually finished lol
Good luck

We had another update from the developer today. They have spoken with our building surveyor and he has said that he is happy to approve the design if they can get it council to confirm their interpretation of the MCP in writing. This sounds very promising! The problem is the developer hasn't been able to get the council guy to answer his phone. We had the same trouble when we were dealing with him, and he has no message bank to leave a message to call you back. He is going to go over his head if he can't get hold of him soon. We think this is probably best anyway, we found him very difficult to deal with. Someone fresh to the situation would be best, everyone keeps saying council doesn't like changing their mind or being shown to be wrong.

That sounds like you are heading in the right direction, hopefully they can get a hold of him or better yet go over his head!.

Hi Nico, what stage are you at?

We got our slab down on the 7th and this week have about half the frame up. We have a thread here

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85735&view=unread#unread

Only just started the thread but the process itself started back in April with floor plans and picking land in May. Lots of waiting like you for land to title.

You did well to get from starting planning in April to building in November! You must have had a pretty smooth admin period.

It's funny because I thought t was really drawn out and tedious admin and contact period and yet reading these posts most people started well before us. We had a fair few ups and downs with small errors, omissions and duplicates that we had to point out over and over again.

Through our admin the geelong office and the drafties nearly always seemed to be snowed under. Every little correction could easily turn into a 6 weeks round trip. They were saying all the way through our admin phase that they were looking to increase admin staff to reduce the load. It finally feels like it has started to happen now. Lately their communication and response times have been really good.

We found a new spot to view our development from on the weekend. Wish I'd known about this spot when we were watching the construction.

We also visited the new king displays at warralily, we didn't even know they were open, we were there for the metricon and boutique, Kings need to lift their social media game! We were very excited to find the Lexington with the same size walk in robes as ours! They are wide and shallow so we hadn't come across anything that compared. It also has 2700 ceilings with square set like ours and it felt massively tall! The Finsbury is the same, but this was different somehow, I think it might be the higher hampers.

And the other display has our stone in the kitchen!!!! I've had so much stress about that stone! It was so awesome to see it kitchen sized! We are very happy with it, it's plain, which we needed with everything else going on, but not too plain . The girl couldn't confirm that it was st moritz until during the week so I had to run home and go back with my sample like a crazy person .

Ooh, i might have to do a visit to the display homes there, i drive by them all the time. There was only one house started in there when my house began...... LOL

Yay to being happy with the stone, so good to see it bigger in an actual kitchen :D
