Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 21, 2015 3:30 pm Hi everyone I'm making this thread to document my build and see what people think; I like getting ideas people have about the plans even though we have just started the build. We are building with Clarendon Qld but we are in Northern NSW. Let me know what you think Cheers Mat Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 2Sep 25, 2015 8:20 pm Hi Mat. I really liked the flow and floor plan of the parkhill when we were looking around. Can you upload the elevations? Would be great to see what it looks like. Good luck with the build! Yay. We are almost complete. A few of the last fittings then should have pci soon. Ur plans look fantastic. Nice and big. Hi Livpal, Good to hear that you are almost in; i've been watching some of the G.J builds in the area, they always have a heap of tradies working on them everyday. it looks like G.J are building great homes in our area so i bet yours is no exception. Good luck with the pci! Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 6Oct 20, 2015 6:26 pm The progress being made has been really good; there is someone onsite nearly every weekday. Roof tiles installed today as well as a lot of plumbing. Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 8Oct 20, 2015 7:01 pm Looking good with a lid. I like it how Clarendon do the roof before brick work. Makes all the difference using Tapatalk Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 9Oct 20, 2015 7:19 pm SteveMc Looking good with a lid. I've noticed a lot of variations of building techniques in our area. I read your blog, I wish I had been as detailed with the start of the build as you had, very impressive and is a great record for the family in the years to come. I read your blog, I wish I had been as detailed with the start of the build as you had, very impressive and is a great record for the family in the years to come. Haha. It's a journey that's for sure! I've been a bit lax of late updating the blog. I was actually waiting for brick work to start with my next post. Not sure why they did the roof, but a couple of Clarendon builds near me have had the same. It's a great idea to save on maintenance items such as swollen flooring and warped reveals on the Windows. Timber frames are fine in the weather due to treatments, but skinny trims and flooring are most susceptible to damage from the elements. You are quite lucky that Clarendon see this as preventative maintenance. I'd say the scaffold they are using didn't come cheap, and they still need general scaffolding for the brick work, so it's kind of paying twice. Its definitely not cost efficient to do it that way, which even owner builders wouldn't pay extra for. Very lucky my friend. using Tapatalk Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 11Oct 23, 2015 5:38 pm Progress Pics provided by the SS today, bricks to start Monday with gyprock to start midweek Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 14Jan 19, 2016 9:58 pm Any more progress Mat? Re: Clarendon - Parkhill 29 - mp1's build 17Sep 06, 2016 4:48 pm Hahaha. I get told week after week " yeh. Pci walk through in the next week or so". But seriously, everything is pretty much done with some remaining defect works to be resolved. I'm planning handover projects such as window blinds, carpet and removalists for the end of month. I Built with Rawson homes, but yes I did use a private building inspector at pre lining which they promptly addressed. Since then there have been a few challenges since which have been addressed slowly, but overall it comes down to your relationship with the building supervisor. I have to say, befriend your supervisor as they are the key to the success of your build. the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6713 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
