Everyone else lets have a break away from wondering if trades are gonna turn up or if the builder/council is going to finalise things and enjoy the long weekend I know I have been a stressed and a cranky franky lately....thank you to each and everyone one of you for your support and encouragement. I am so glad I have H1F forum to share and celebrate and at times vent and whinge about the build viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1502Mar 24, 2016 11:48 pm We are always here for you Franky! Our room doors bend little bit and fit not properly to door frames. Since these are plywood internal doors, is it normal? Any idea Thanks Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1504Mar 25, 2016 7:31 am monalisa Franky We don't have a WIL....but i think M missed the under stair tiling. ..we had to email SM.... i wonder if they forgot or it had to be done separately. Under stair storage flooring was not included down here and had to be added on! You'd think they would just add everything into the cost when someone asks for it!! Franky, surely a walk in linen will be tiled!! Weird that they stopped with such a small section to go and grouted! I'm sure that will be fixed up. Our room doors bend little bit and fit not properly to door frames. Since these are plywood internal doors, is it normal? Any idea Thanks It's not meant to be like that you probably should raise it at your 90day inspection. We changed our doors as it was meant to be wood and they incorrectly delivered MDF. With our front door we need to fix as it it does not stay shut. Doubt they will replace it. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1508Mar 25, 2016 9:39 am Kylz and Mona - when we did the prelim contract we had under stair storage and our sales consultant added the tiling to this area (she was superb and very thorough) but when we did our internals we upgraded the stair and no longer have under stair storage. Never in the entire process has anyone told me WIL would not be tiled completely. Surely we have upgraded every damn item and paid through our nose for this build - I would have paid the extra it needed to be upgraded. I dropped a few F bombs when I saw it I know it's not a major issue but I think with all delays and other issues this really annoyed me I am going to ask them to do it. We have spare tiles and given all the dramas we had its the least they can do! viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1509Mar 25, 2016 10:12 am Hi Franky40, I've spoken to 2 builders that include Metricon. All mentioned concrete floor for WIL if on ground floor or board for level 1. For Metricon, you can see what type of flooring is included at the electrical layout drawing. Thanks Vintay that's news to me. Our laundry has a linen cupboard and it's fully tiled. The WIL has open shelves so it will look odd. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1511Mar 25, 2016 10:28 am Franky40 vintay68 Hi Franky40, I've spoken to 2 builders that include Metricon. Was told if floor plan shows blank, it is up to owner's decision. When calculating floor board, my WIL space was omitted also. Not including tiles for WIL is news to me. Did you talk to DL? Manager at DL is really nice. She would get an answer for you quickly if you can't get through to your ss. Thanks KKPP will do if I need to. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1516Mar 26, 2016 8:02 am The only reason they wouldn't tile it is if there's surprise cabinetry you didnt know about or.... a shelf on the ground..? Otherwise that must just not yet be finished. You'd clearly see the concrete and surely they wouldn't leave it like that! Our first shelf is about 30-40cm above the ground and the tiles go all the way in underneath them. Good luck, looking forward to what they say. Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1517Mar 29, 2016 5:06 pm We had an interesting phone call from DL today. We are having our front piers tiled. We did the selection when we did the external and requested it be tiled using brick bond style of tiling. The phone call was to ask if we wanted it tiled vertically ! NO NOT REALLY! Thank god they called! I don't think we could have coped with another screw up especially on the facade. We also question re waterproofing for ensuite 2, apparently they are going to redo the water proofing and then do the tiles. A closer inspection shows the waterproofing is definitely damaged with the membrane ripped open in certain places. I am not sure if you can "patch" waterproof. Anyway will watch it very closely. I am not overly confident it will be done properly. This means we will need to get Megaseal to seal this shower area after handover. I have also emailed the CM re our concerns with waterproofing. We have also requested weekly inspections from now. Waiting to hear back! I hope the weather brightens up we need the renders and painters to finish their stuff between now and the 8th April. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Building Metricon Franklin 40 Sydney 1518Mar 29, 2016 5:11 pm Franky40 We had an interesting phone call from DL today. It shouldn't be this hard. Good they checked....and very important you keep an eye. We realised yesterday the ensuite wc skirting tiles are not the same as flooring and instead bathroom white tiles..... it wasn't even obvious before. It doesn't look bad but still... not sure if they review the paperwork. Hoping the wayer proofing is fixed properly. We had a small tear in our WC and many tears in our balcony due to all the other trades throwing their rubbish overboard LOL! Tilers just re waterproofed both before they screeded. It looks exactly as it did before the tears. My tilers are an#l too so if there was something else that could be done they would have....just to waste more time! Just check after it has been done. Hope this eases your mind a little.
